Seriously, Fox should put John Gibson at prime-time.[fox received around 33000 mail for this, mostly +ve]

The Washington Post did a snap poll Thursday night to determine if Americans are upset about the president and the National Security Agency keeping a data bank of our phone records — what number was used to call what other number. The short story: Americans are overwhelming OK with it.

But The Post was asking the wrong question.

In this case, it also needs to be asked:

Are you OK with someone at the NSA leaking this information to reporters?

Are you OK with secret methods being used to try to catch Al Qaeda being revealed not only to the American public, but also to Al Qaeda themselves?

Are you OK with NSA employees being so ticked off at the president they would release information that helps the very people who are trying to kill you?

Are you OK with national security issues being treated as the raw material for Pulitzer prizes for ambitious reporters?

Are you OK with Al Qaeda only having to subscribe to The New York Times and The Washington Post to learn how America's spies are trying to track them down?

Are you OK with reporters being more concerned about Pulitzer prizes than whether you or I blow up?

........Leakers of this sort are criminals who should be in jail. And the reporters who use secrets to win Pulitzers are putting our lives in danger. Remember: These are the same people who want someone in jail for outing Valerie Plame. Where are they now?

Excellent Post #181, and something that needs to be said, and asked in a poll instead of the DNC/MSM push poll crappola. Anyone that has ever watched any Police Show for the last 30 years knows that your phone records are not sacred. The records can easily be obtained and a humongous number of Crimes have been solved through these records. It is not the conversations that are documented, it is the numbers and who you called. Most people might not realize this, but Police work, and particularly investigations and solving Crimes depends a lot on experienced People picking up on sometimes just a minute bit of info that leads them to another and then another until great heads and experience working together put the pieces of the Puzzle together and the Crime is solved. Not one piece of data or information should be discarded, and it is time consuming, and you are working to make sure that no clever Defense Attorney can mess up your prosecution of the guilty vermints(cross between vermin and varmint), and you are only a civil servant, not a high priced lawyer with unlimited budget. It never ceased to amaze me how this painstaking work can suddenly come together in a flash with just the right bit of info.
