I think that Gibson is getting his talking points from Hillary...
Hillary was giving a speech a few weeks ago....where she was accusing Bush of "fear-mongering" re: the war on terror, and Iraq...blah, blah.
As far as I am concerned, the dems have been fear-mongering for years, when they tell seniors that the Repulicans are going to take away their Medicare...and other scare tactics.
I loved Mel Gibson's, Signs, We Were Soldiers', and Passion of the Christ, but now it looks like he is falling in line with the Hollywood hate/blame Bush crowd by calling Bush a fear monger. It was not fear that killed 3,000 people on 9-11. And what does Mel propose? That we bury our heads in the sand and hope our enemies leave us alone?
A sell-out in the worst way.
In politics, fear mongering works better than accusations of fear mongering. The former is offensive. The latter is defensive.
The Republicans have national security, but as has been observed, memories are getting weak. Thus, Repubs need to find a secondary, back-up issue. I suggest the old tried and true: Taxes. They can begin hammering a two pronged point that always works. (1) The economy is roaring. (2) If you elect the Dems, they will raise your personal taxes and the economy wll tank.
