Once my management told me to do crash improvement of Russian skills of a guy who had studied it in college ages prior, and gave me about 2 weeks. Immersion was out of question, so - to keep the student's motivation high - I gave him to read all the obscene poetry in Russian I could find. The stratagem worked, and everybody who heard about such pedagoguery, was laughing to tears - except the management.

I've been trying to get my hands on French language copies of the Harry Potter books. I figure something I like to read will help me improve my French literacy more than trying to read a copy of one of Balzac's novels, which I doubt would be understandable even in English.

Obscene Russian poetry... LOL.
