BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A Democratic candidate for Alabama attorney general denies the Holocaust occurred and said Friday he will speak this weekend in New Jersey to a "pro-white" organization that is widely viewed as being racist.
Larry Darby concedes his views are radical, but he said they should help him win wide support among Alabama voters as he tries to "reawaken white racial awareness" with his campaign against Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson.

"Historians say about 6 million Jews were slaughtered by the Nazis, but Darby said the figure is a false claim of the "Holocaust industry."
"I am what the propagandists call a Holocaust denier, but I do not deny mass deaths that included some Jews," Darby said. "There was no systematic extermination of Jews. There's no evidence of that at all."
Darby said he will speak Saturday near Newark, N.J., at a meeting of National Vanguard, which bills itself as an advocate for the white race. Some of his campaign materials are posted on the group's Internet site.
"It's time to stop pushing down the white man. We've been discriminated against too long," Darby said in the interview.
New Jersey's Democratic State Committee chief on Friday decried Darby's planned visit, and said in a statement that denying the Holocaust was "historical blasphemy."
A poll published last month indicated the Democratic race for attorney general was up for grabs. The survey showed 21 percent favored Tyson to 12 percent for Darby, but 68 percent of respondents were undecided.
Darby, founder of the Atheist Law Center and a longtime supporter of separation of church and state, said he has no money for campaign advertising and has made only a few campaign speeches. "

If this were a Republican candidate, the Lamestream Media would portray this as a symbol of the Republican Party (like they did with David Duke in the 1990's). But since he's a Democrat, it's not important.

I will be completely forthright, in this year's elections, I will be voting for one Democrat in the statewide races. That man is in fact, John Tyson, who I expect to win the Democratic nomination easy. To be rather blunt, his family and my family have been friends for years, his record as District Attorney is one that would clearly fall into the realm of what someone who is a conservative as far as being tough on crime would want out of an urban D.A., and most importantly, he has been willing to take on political figures in both parties when it comes to issues of corruption.
Now, as far as Larry Darby goes, this man for years has been known in the annals of this state as a complete jackass, however, Darby is not running on an entirely stupid strategy. Just for the record, there is one Muslim in the Alabama House of Representatives. He is a black Muslim who represents a district that apparently includes Selma. He was co-sponsor of the Constituntional Ban on Same Sex Marriage that we will be voting on in the primary elections. The Democratic primary in Alabama will be blacker than usual, as many whites who normally vote there will be attracted to the Republican primary by the Riley/Moore race. I expect Riley to be the beneficiary of this. The reason this is important is that, for 10 years, the man who held the 7th District (majority black) in Congress was Earl Hilliard, a man who became famous in the late 90s for his friendship with Qadaffi. In 2002, he was defeated in a primary by Artur Davis (who now holds the seat). He almost held the seat on, and he relied on the appeals to direct racism and anti-Semitism. Older blacks in Alabama have been known at times to respond favorably to appeals of anti-Semitism. I believe Darby may be trying to exploit that. That being said, he has no chance of succeeding with it, because while Tyson has deposed political figures of both races in this county, their supporters would not be pissed enough at him to vote for an outright atheist. Darby will get creamed in the primary (as he should be) and that will be that.
Darby used to be president of the state Atheist's association, so that says all that needs to be said. The primaries for Attorney General are likely to be anti-climatic, at least at this stage. I think it's by now fairly certain Tyson is the Democratic nominee, his position was secured during his re-election bid 4 years ago when he was re-elected with 60% of the vote when all other Democrats running in the county races failed to clear 45%.
ah, the ghost of Bull Conner is alive and well in the dem party. Maybe some one should have him tour Auschwitz and spend the night in one of the ovens and see what he thinks after having to light a fire in there to keep warm overnight.
Failing to read the article, I failed to notice the whole National Vanguard crap. Not that this entirely surprises me.
