Have they started installing GPS locaters in cell phones now?? When did they start doing that?? They were mighty quiet about it.

It seems they have, I noticed that there was an option in my Settings called Location which allows the network to track you. It's turned on by default.

The exact text of the warning in my phone.

"Turning location off will disable the GPS function for all purposes except 911, but will not hide your general location based on the cell site serviing your call."

So 911 can zero in on you with it.

I went and checked my cell phone. I found the same thing, except my location tracking was turned "OFF". But like you stated, the disclaimer on my phone said that 911 would still receive my location, no matter what. It makes you wonder if there are other "undocumented" ways for the phone company to secretly turn "ON" that GPS locator, should they want to!!
