I'm talking about the perpetually angry, Bush-hating minority who don't really CARE if he does something right on this issue, because they will hate him anyway.

I really, truly believe that is a figment of your imagination. I support Bush on just about everything else he does but on immigration he has been an abject failure. His biggest failure is to look to the future and see what his policy will do to America.
What's up with these weird personal reactions? Can't you discuss something rationally? The plain fact is that the vast majority of posters who oppose Bush's handling of border enforcement, contrary to your belief that they are perpetual whiners/trolls, are long-time GOP stalwarts.
He better listen to his base, or he'll be listening to a Dem House reading him the Articles next year.
