Last year, President Bush signed legislation to more than double the resources dedicated to worksite enforcement.

It resulted in 3 fines. How you gonna spin that?

Since President Bush took office, funding for border security has increased by 66 percent.

Agents are being provided with cutting-edge technology like infrared cameras, advanced motion sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Protective infrastructure, such as vehicle barriers and fencing in urban areas, is being installed. Manpower, technology, and infrastructure are being integrated in more coordinated ways than ever before.

Since President Bush took office, agents have apprehended and sent home more than 6 million people entering the country illegally - including more than 400,000 with criminal records.

The President has set a goal to end "catch-and-release" over the next year. Most illegal immigrants from Mexico can be returned to Mexico within 24 hours. Non-Mexican illegal immigrants present a different challenge. For decades, government detention facilities did not have enough beds for the non-Mexican illegal immigrants caught at the border - so most were released back into society. They were each assigned a court date, but virtually no one showed up. The Administration is ending the practice of "catch-and-release" by increasing the number of beds in detention facilities by 12 percent this year; the President's FY07 budget proposes increasing that number by another 32 percent. The Administration is expanding the use of "expedited removal," which allows us to send non-Mexican illegal immigrants home more quickly.

Last year, it took an average of 66 days to process a non-Mexican illegal immigrant. Now, the process is taking only 21 days. This has helped us end "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants from Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua caught crossing our Southwest border. Since last summer, the total number of non-Mexican illegal immigrants released into society has been cut by more than a third.

Next month, the Administration will launch new law enforcement task forces in 11 cities to dismantle document fraud rings.

Workers would be able to register for legal status on a temporary basis. If workers decided to apply for citizenship, they would have to get in line.

You'll have to tell me what part of that is amnesty.

Big whoop. I can't wait to here the same old tire lines telling the US citizen how this is going to be cramed down our throats like it or not.

It doesn't matter if he puts military on the border, the next administration can remove them. Unless the word, Israeli type fence is heard, all of his other phoney window dressing can be toss'ed out with last years fashions.

Bush needs to say: "Starting tomorrow, confirmation of S/S validity will:
(a) be made available by a joint IRS/SS Admin database,
(b) employers will be held criminally liable for violations,
(c) the FDIC, SEC and other federal agencies are hearby directed to cease & desist helping circumvent immigration/employment/lending laws,
(d) any government agency/employee found violating these rules & regs will be prosecuted under the full weight of law."

Maybe if we repost it 1000 times, he'll know we really, really mean it?

"If you wish to speak about Terri, there are threads for that. Keep it on topic"

Did I start the terri topic? No. Do you keep bringing it up so you can have the last word? Yes. Do I care that you have feelings for Terri? No. Do I think you ought to shut up? Yes.

9/11 made illegal immigration and secure borders a front burner issue. The problem is becoming worse as the numbers increase exponentially, which now makes it more visible to the entire country beyond the border states.

But people want instant solutions and instant results.

There have been consistent majorities favoring border enforcement and deportations ever since the Reagan amnesty. At lest that time, we believed it when we were told we'd get enforcement and a secure border.

A second round of lies won't fly.

And I've told you the likely reason for that. What's the point in agents spending hundreds of man hours to make one arrest?

Instead the WH is going after the phony document labs that make it easier for employers to get away with this crap.

A wall? A wall people can tunnel under. Climb over. It's not quite as easy as you think.

And then you still need border patrol agents to make sure people aren't getting over and under the wall.

Think about it. How many agents every how many feet? How do they eat? Go to the bathroom? They need medical facilities for the border patrol agents if/when they hurt themselves or become dehydrated. It's a HUGE task and success with a wall is far from certain.

You're nuts. Immigration wasn't an issue on FR until Bush brought it up. Jim himself said it "wasn't important" and people were banned and threads pulled wholesale over the matter. For a very, very long time there was not an illegal immigration topic header on the main forum. It's a issue lily white $$ republicans would rather not have to deal with but now have to choose a side because it's been shoved into their faces and they can't ignore it any longer.

The FR issue was a little more complex than that. For the longest time immigration threads were looked at with a highly critical eye after it was discovered that a racist group called 'Stormfront' was attempting to infiltrate right wing forums all over the internet and slowly bait and turn people to their side through slow manipulation. A Stormfront instruction guide was actually posted here and it was pretty disturbing their plan of attack.

In addition to that, JimRob pointed out in the intro to Hillary's Secret War that the Democrats have actually hired people to infiltrate any Republican forum or blog and try to create rifts.

I also wrote an article back in 2004 for the MBAA Journal outlining how the Democrats were using viral marketing techniques in their campaigns, one of the key issues used to split the base was immigration.

This is a very highly watched issue as it has been the base of attack by the left. They have seen a weakness and try very hard to exploit it.

Coop, you don't profit from illegal labor do you? Employee's , maids, yard help, etc.?

Let's see. I do the yard work, I split the maid duties, and my employees (read: children) are most likely U.S. citizens. Although only my wife knows for sure. But in short - No.

I also don't profit from exaggerated rhetoric, hysteria, a myopic stranglehold on one issue, or a false belief of an easy solution to a long-term, very complex problem.
