WASHINGTON, May 11 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A request on behalf of over 350 Gold Star families whose loved ones gave their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom to not have the names of their fallen heroes used in the Eyes Wide Open anti-Iraq war display currently on exhibit at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., was refused today by the organizer, the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC.)
The exhibit is cosponsored by several so-called antiwar groups, including one led by Cindy Sheehan, who herself has asked that her son's name not be used by President Bush.
Kristinn Taylor, who has two family members in the service, one on the front-line in Afghanistan and one who recently returned from the Middle East, personally made the request this morning to the national tour director of the exhibit by handing him a list of 353 fallen heroes whose families have requested their names not be used in antiwar propaganda displays such as Eyes Wide Open.
The director, Marq Anderson, acknowledged that AFSC had not sought permission to use the names. He also stated that AFSC would not seek such permission and placed the burden on the grieving families by DEMANDING that each family mail letters to AFSC to initiate the process of removing names from the exhibit.
Gary Qualls, of Temple, Texas, whose son LCpl. Louis W. Qualls gave his life in service to his country in Iraq, issued the following statement:
"The Eyes Wide Open exhibit is a cruel mockery of the sacrifices made in Iraq by our sons and daughters and husbands and wives. The American Friends Service Committee is robbing the graves of brave, patriotic Americans and committing psychological terrorism against their surviving families by using their names without permission for this propaganda display.
"I urge the American Friends Service Committee to put decency before politics and honor the requests by these and other families by immediately removing the names of their loved ones from the Eyes Wide Open display. And that in the future, they only use the names of soldiers whose families have explicitly granted permission for such disgraceful purposes. To place the burden on grieving families by having them go on bended knee to people who denigrate the sacrifices made by their loved ones is unconscionable."
BTTT
I want to do serious damage to these terrorist left wing arseholes. Of course I won't unless defending myself ( please attack me...pretty pleease)
The libs are masters at taking the greatest strength of their opposition and turning it on it's head. Ditto in regards to their greatest weaknesses.
Only by making the mistaken assumption that these people possessed a conscience.

You rock. Great job

Well done, kristinn.
Pain and suffering..sue them all.
Fat freakin' chance of that ever happening.
Just to add insult to injury, consider that Cindy's son would probably not even agree with her on having his name used by President Bush.
Quakers would have the decency and common courtesy to respect the wishes of those families who do not want their loved one's names used in this manner. But the AFSC couldn't even be bothered to ask permission before, much less honor the request made by 350 familiy members today.
The American Friends Servioce Committee is a bunch of grave robbing bastards. They rob the sacred dead of the sympathy and gratitude that the public feels and uses it against those still in harm's way. And when those in harm's way die, they will rob that grave too.
Bastards, grave robbing bastards.
This isn't even close to a "silver lining" given the despicable partisanship on display, but given that these pacifistic, dhimmi-wanna-be's have to stoop so low below the bottom of the barrel to get their message out only proves that like Al Qaeda in Iraq, the anti-war nuts are losing and they know it...
Wrote to their web site.
God forgive me, I hate these people.
Thanks for posting this information. Bumping to the top.
Well, I would have no problem defacing their display or whatever the hell it is. I would just forcibly remove the names of those men whose families want them off. I would accept jail time to do so.
