Good for Texas! I wish my own damn state would follow.
Nantucket Sound is beautiful, but if you want to flip the light switch on and get results, you have to get the power from somewhere.

For tens of thousands of years Birds have been able to fly around things. Now all of a sudden they magically can't any more. Right....
I try not to be conspiritorial but the only people who can possibly benefit from America not moving to alternative energy is OPEC.

By PETA's arguments, these should have been made illegal years ago.

Just put big scarecrows or giant fake hawks (with glow in the dark red eyes!) on each turbine.

The nation's largest offshore wind farm will be built off the Padre Island seashore, a critical migratory bird flyway... How dare bird fly in windy areas! Who would have thought of such a thing like birds coasting in windstreams. Next, I bet we'll hear about fish swimming in currents.
Lets put wind farms in still air areas to protect the birds.

Only a stupid liberal environmentalist would assume migrating birds would fly off shore, instead of inland, near food and water sources.

--- "You probably couldn't pick a worse location, unless you're trying to settle the issue as to how damaging they are to migratory birds," said Walter Kittelberger, chairman of the Lower Laguna Madre Foundation.--- My Company, "ScareCrows LLC", is in the process of making large curtain like Scare Crows to drape around the large wind mills to shooo the birds away. I'll make $$$$ billions! I love America! /humor

"But some environmentalists say the promise of clean energy may not be worth the deaths of countless birds that migrate through the area each year on their way to and from winter grounds in Mexico and Central America." That statement is preposterous and typical of "environmentalists"
At ground level you could walk through the blades. a bird would have to be blind to fly into them.

Jerry Patterson is also responsible for passage of the Texas Concealed Carry Law............
If he can get this done, he is once again a hero!
We need him in the Governor's office... Perry is an empty suit...

What? Offshore platforms and mostly overland flightways. I don't get it.

...and Texas has it's own power grid too...;o) Perhaps we could sell any excess to Nantucket Sound at confiscatory rates.

But you can count on the Cape Codites demanding a share of the power generated.

Couldn't there simply be some kind of sound generator that makes noise at about the range that birds hate, like a "danger sqwauk" that sits atop these things?
