Harris Comments on Bense Announcement

Florida House Speaker Allan Bense announced today that he will not challenge U.S. Representative Katherine Harris in the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

According to an Associated Press account, Bense said, "I have been extremely honored and humbled by the strong support and encouragement I have received from my family, my friends, and from people across Florida who I admire greatly, however, I have decided not to run for the United States Senate."

"I respect Allan Bense's decision and appreciate his noble service to Florida. Allan has been a friend over the years, and I look forward to working with him in the future to win in November," said Harris in a statement Wednesday.

"Our campaign is focused on defeating liberal Bill Nelson. My candidacy is about being a fighter and a strong independent advocate for Florida. People are tired of politics as usual. They are tired of backroom beltway deals. They are tired of partisan politics. While I am a proud and loyal Republican, ultimately, when I cast a vote I always ask, is it the right vote for the people of my state and our nation - as opposed to a partisan game?"

Stanley Tate, Harris Campaign Finance Chair said, "People who know her, know Katherine Harris doesn't quit. She sticks to her guns and she will win in November with your support."

What are the scandals? Is there anything there?

She returned illegal campaign contributions from a contractor who had connections to Duke Cunningham. She did not know where the money originated from (dirty money can come from anywhere and find itself into a legitimate PAC or group to be given to said candidate).

Yeah, this is bigger than Watergate and Chinagate.

San Antonio TX as a source for a Katherine Harris hit piece. That's rich.

Please name all of the FL Republican U.S. Senate candidates that have stepped up to the plate to run against Harris.

Bonus question: Why haven't they?

"I think they've attempted to kneecap Harris the entire way, pretty disgusting."

I agree. Shows very poor organizational leadership. Similar to Senator Frist. Instead of "eating" the enemy Democrat Party, they eat themselves.

Cannibalism puts succeeding generations at risk. ;)

Thanks for all the advice. As I said in this thread, I first heard of these things from the Brit Hume's leftist media panel including Barnes and Krauthammer. Since nobody on this thread would even address the scandals referencec by those Marxists Barnes and Krauthammer I went to Google and sent you only the first link in a long list (you can do the same if you want that list). Now you tell me it's all made up. Maybe it is made up. I like the commies Barnes and Krauthammer think this probably will affect her chances anyway. Do you think Harris will do well in Dade County? In any of the other huge population centers in Florida? I'm no expert on Florida but others like your Governor know more and I tend to believe what he says about winning since he's done it before.

I believe what you say is true about the contributions. How's she been polling?

Sounds to me like you're starting to flip out. What the hell are you talking about now?

As for Jeb being a winner, well I've been a part of that. Speaking of winners, Ms. Harris is one as well, having won every office she has ever campaigned for.

Put that in your "scandals" pipe and smoke it.

"I am still waiting for Klayman to join the race! maybe he'll be the third or fourth party (or 5th column) candidate! Yippee! And what about the guy from Illinois?"

As I stated, I see no end to this. And as far as the filing date law is concerned, I haven't seen any evidence that we are still a nation of laws.

Can I say I told you so now...or would you perhaps like me to wait until November?

Bonus question: Why haven't they?

They were too busy attending GOP $5,000-a-plate fundraisers and hobnobbing with the elitists who have backstabbed Harris from day one.

Nice of Jeb to denounce Harris' candidacy, then run back and grab the pants leg of his brother.

Do you believe the latest Bush polls? Honestly, why people suddenly believe these Harris polls as the gospel but will scream bloody murder at polls showing Bush at or below 30% is mind-boggling.

Go re-read the thread. I was responding sarcastically to your claim I shouldn't believe the leftist media. Sorry I was too subtle and you missed it.I'm glad you like Ms. Harris. Don't tell me, show me a win in November. Do you think I wouldn't be happy if she won? If you do, you missed the whole point.

Subtle? Inane is more like it.

As for being happy if Harris wins, then do us all a favor and put a sock in it. All you're doing here is assisting the opposition, whether you care to admit it or not.

Ok, let me get this straight... I shouldn't believe anything printed about Harris. I shouldn't believe polls about her chances at winning. I shouldn't belive Jeb Bush. I should believe no one except a few people on FreeRepublic who have been nasty when I asked questions about what I heard on telelvision last night. Yup, that about sums things up. Despite her angry and nutty supporters, I do hope she wins in November. Best of luck to you.

Yup, I understand that point. I feel the same way about all the Bush and RINO attacks on this site. A little advice as you go into the campaign...try not to come off so angry and defensive. I felt like I was corresponding with a liberal.

" Nice of Jeb to denounce Harris' candidacy, then run back and grab the pants leg of his brother."

I never would have guessed that Jeb would stoop so low to stab Harris in the back as he has done. As much as I hate to say it, my opinion of him has severely declined as a result of his completely dishorable behaviors regarding Ms. Harris. The RPOF also has some serious explaining to do.

Interesting. I feel the exact same way. Of course, I'm actively supporting Ms. Harris, and you're not.

Deeds, not words.
