The base revolted--rightfully so--over the Miers nomination. Bush listened, fixed his mistake, and now we're blessed with Alito. There's still some time for Bush and congressional 'Icans to listen to their base now. You have a better chance of getting what you want by lobbying them to do what is right rather than insulting the base here. How many disaffected conservatives minds have you changed by scolding them? My guess is that you can count the number on the fingers of one hand with five fingers left over.
Wouldn't it be something if Bush reversed his pro-amnesty stand, and became a border hawk? Only then would it be revealed how many of the FROBL, who now hide their open border views as support for W, would vent their fury on Bush, and any other Republican who would deprive them of their precious illegals.
