Thank you, epow. BTTT

BTW, the only argument President Bush and our allies needed to justify toppling Saddam were the UN Resolutions that Saddam refused to comply with. The rest is just icing on the cake, but I do love icing. ;)

Thanx for the ping. Duly noted is "They didn't believe we had the will to fight back." If the current anti_American democrap party and mainstream mediawhoredom are successful, we will be back to that clintonesque sniveling posture. But the democrats will be in power, don'tchaknow. Doesn't matter how many Americans are slaughtered through the treasonus bastards' efforts (as we understand from the 44 million unborn sacrificed to democrat empowerment agenda).

Hi Sleuth!

...and now, with 2800...

Where did you hear that figure? I find the figures below. Numbers represent Hostile, Non-Hostile, Total Casualties.
Total 1920 508 2428

If the Enemedia liars are reporting 2800, I think they should be exposed.

many more than 50% have said the war was wrong...

You simply can not believe these insidious polls!

Man Bill Clinton knew what Saddam was up to. So did everybody else. The American people were told the threat Saddam posed through three presidents.

GWB happened to be the sitting in the oval office when 911 happened.

What pisses me off is that everybody who argued against a threat to the strategic interest of the US prior to 911 (and did absolutely nothing) somehow have amnesia as to the threat he posed. Reading the NYSlime or the pathetic excuse for what passes as the Lame stream media one gets the impression that good ole saddaam was a poor uncle that got a bum rap and was a simple strawman for Bush to go on a rampage. GWB made his case for war. Up to this day one can argue that no president in history (with the exception of Roosevelt) had the casus belli to take the country to war other than Roosevelt.

The reality of it all is that those who argue against the war are simply trying to deny the inevitable. Saddaam under any other president's watch (read democrat) would never have gone to war PERIOD! It is the 800 lbs gorilla that no one wants to talk about because it would confirm what the American people already know. National security cannot be entrusted to a party that is paralyzed by fear in taking their nation to war because the democratic party doesn't stand for nothing. If anything the democratic party under those that are running it now would like nothing more than to further weaken the US vis a vis it's enemies in order to satisfy an international elite hell bent on bringig the US to its's knees. Grandstanding for the pleasure of the NYSlime and it kindred spirits in the media is the only thing you will get from democrats.

HI J!!

I think that John Gibson just rounded up as a contrast...you know, 28,000 vs. 2800!

He was just trying to make the point, I guess, that at one time, even a lot less "necessary, perhaps" war, had stronger support with so many more deaths....

That it shows just how little either the American public, or the MSM's idea of the American people can stomach, when it comes to fighting a war anymore....

I am sure the looney tunes President of Iran...just is not afraid of us at all...sigh

Yes, the media has been sucessful in keeping these little gems quiet. We've all read them before and then they disappear.

As unpopular as the Iraq war has been, that's not what has driven GWB towards the political scrap heap. President Bush's woes started on the slippery slopes of the Harriet Miers nomination, and hasn't stopped spiraling downward since. He can't seem to press the right buttons on any issue. Everything he touches, has turned sour, or upside down. He could get twenty to thirty points overnight, if he'd put our military to seal the Southern borders. But, what do I know?

"You will not see this in the MSM. Guaranteed."

You would if Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld or Rice made a BIG speech and cited line and verse of what we have learned.

That our concerns about Iraq were FULLY justified.

But this administration has grown inept at making their positions strongly, repeatedly, to important audiences.

Call it communications. The President's communications performances are uneven, at best.

I believe we were all pulling, and praying for GWB, and wanted him to be in the worst way, successful. We all know that the MSM and Dems were gunning, and looking for the smallest mole to build a mountain. But, since Harriet Miers, he's given his detractors whole built mountain ranges. I don't know if it's him, or bad advice? At any rate, it's tremendously hurt him and the Republican Party.

we had lost 28,000 troops but Americans were STILL backing that war

Americans back this war!!! As you know, I get a first hand look at the situation every week, sometimes 2-3 times a week. Just because the Enemedia says it, does not make it so. Having said that, here is a bit of info on VN.

2.7 million Americans served in the Vietnam, or 3.4 per some counts.
300,000 were wounded with 75,000 permanently wounded.
1992 still unaccounted for in Vietnam. (thanks McInsane and jFkerry)

America's war in Vietnam lasted 15 years, or 20 if you count the 350 advisers that were sent in 1955. By early 1968, America had dropped almost three million tons of bombs on Vietnam -- twice the tonnage dropped on Germany and Japan in World War II.

The Viet Nam WarsExcerpts from Rusk-McNamara Report to Kennedy, D, November 11, 1961.
l. United States National Interests in South Viet-Nam.
The loss of South Viet-Nam to Communism would not only destroy SEATO but would undermine the credibility of American commitments elsewhere.
Further, loss of South Viet-Nam would stimulate bitter domestic controversies in the United States and would be seized upon by extreme elements to divide the country and harass the Administration...

In the light of the foregoing, the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense recommend that:
1. We now take the decision to commit ourselves to the objective of preventing the fall of South Viet-Nam to Communism and that, in doing so, we recognize that the introduction of United States and other SEATO forces may be necessary to achieve this objective. (However, if it is necessary to commit outside forces to achieve the foregoing objective, our decision to introduce United States forces should not be contingent upon unanimous SEATO agreement thereto.)

KENNEDY, D, September 2, 1963 ...If we withdrew from Vietnam, the Communists would control Vietnam. Pretty soon Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Malaya would go.

JOHNSON, D, August 2, 1965 ...If this little nation goes down the drain and can't maintain her independence, ask yourself, what's going to happen to all the other little nations?

NIXON CAMPAIGN COMMERCIAL, November 1968
RICHARD NIXON
Never has so much power been used so ineffectively as in Vietnam. If after all of this time, and all of this sacrifice and all of this support there is still no end in sight, then I say the time has come for the American people to turn to new leadership, not tied to the policies and mistakes of the past. I pledge to you we shall have an honorable end to the war in Vietnam.

NIXON, R, March 22, 1971 ...If the United States now were to throw in the towel and come home and the Communists took over South Vietnam, then all over Southeast Asia, all over the Pacific, in the Mideast, in Europe, in the world, the United States would suffer a blow. And peace -- because we are the great peace-keeping nation in the world today, because of our power -- would suffer a blow from which it might not recover.

As you know, because of the anti-war communist agitators/protesters, we abandoned SVN and it fell to the communist NVN in April 1975.

The moral of my post is.....
If a DemonRAT is waging the war, all is well with the world. When a Republican is in the White House, no war is ever valid. There were no real protests to the Vietnam war until a Republican was in the WH and inherited the war.

I don't believe any single person can tell GWB what to do. However, the deafening roar of self destruction is coming from the whole Republican base.
