Brother Jeb would make 'great' US president: Bush May 10 12:05 PM US/Eastern
President George W. Bush praised his brother, Florida governor Jeb Bush, as an "excellent" leader who would make a "great president" of the United States, according to news accounts.
"I think Jeb would be a great president. But it's up to Jeb to make a decision to run," Bush told reporters at a roundtable interview here with several Florida newspapers.
"I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that's his intention or not," said the president, in comments published in the St Petersburg Times, and other dailies.
Bush said he had "pushed him fairly hard about what he intends to do," but said Jeb would not tip his hand.
"I have no idea what he's going to do. I've asked him that question myself. I truly don't think he knows," Bush said.
He added that his brother's "political future is very bright - if he chooses to have a political future. But he is an independent-minded guy. His priority is his family."
The Bush family is one of the pre-eminent US political dynasties, with the Bush brothers' father, George Herbert Walker Bush, having also served a stint as US president.
You left out NO MORE CLINTONS! NO MORE GORE!
NO MORE BUSH!!!
This is not a monarchy....we need to get better people to become leaders. They are out there, but won't run due to the nastiness of politics.
"Unglued" = thrilled beyond belief.
Please enlighten with the accurate quote.
I'm for Allen too! But we have not heard a peep from him.
We need a Pied Piper to lead the way, and I don't see him or anyone else leading the way. I voted for Bush twice, and my stomach turns when I see how he allows the immigration issue to fester like it is. Vicente Fox must have a picture of Bush with a Billy Goat!
Jeb Bush? No, never, not ever. Not after the fiasco in his state over the murder of Terri Schiavo.
Enough of the Bushes already.
It's someone else's turn now. (Hi, Condi!!)
Why don't you request that they chisel that slogan onto your tombstone.
They already are.
Jeb is a great governor, and would make a great president. Florida's economy is the best in the nation, with limited government compared to most states.
He's been called a RINO and worse since I registered here in December 2001. Allen being called a RINO is nothing I haven't already heard before around here.
I don't think we have to worry about the Clinton's, even if Hillary gets the nomination, she won't become president.
Eleanor Clift can continue to draw comparisons between Hillary and RWR, it simply doesn't compute. At least RWR wasn't an anti-American Socialist screeching moonbat liberal.
Hillary has to mask and hide her liberalism. Reagan didn't even have to hide anything to be elected not to mention nominted. Hillary has some serious baggage and skeletons in her closet. She's clearly unelectable in this day and age.
Reagan was honest about his beliefs. The Clinton's are anything but honest. Hillary will pick up where her repugnant stooge puke of a husband left off.
Things will be far worse under a Clinton presidency than under any named Republican.
If liberals and socialists had the power, the planet would be spinning in a retrograde orbit.
"You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists."
Ah - OK. Do you see a substantive difference between those two? I'm not sure I do.
Not just NO, but HELL NO! ! ! They run Jeb down our throats and I go ballistic. I suspect a lot of others would too.
To steal a line from the Reverand Jackson, "Get out da Bushes" ....... no mo Bushies please.....
Jeb a decent guy and OK governor....but no guts no glory....he didn't rescue Terri Schiavo against the Gollam little baldy swamp Judge Greer....he is Bill Frist light...
no more milk toast Pubbies......we need real MEN of courage for high office. Dubya sucks on the border issue too.
I am for Allen. He has got grass root support he may not realize. Jeb? I'd vote for him over any dim. Can't say the same for McCain. He is an RINO opportunist.
If it came down to McCain getting the nomination (a veritable longshot IMHO - I sincerely doubt he will get the party's nomination) I'd support him, but right now, I'm fully supporting Allen at this juncture.
I've not seen a Republican I can support in 2008 emerge yet. Jeb Bush is better than most, I suppose.
