[history]
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) House Speaker Allan Bense won't be seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate despite appeals from Governor Jeb Bush and other top Republicans.
In a statement released by his legislative office, Bense says he's extremely honored and humbled by the support and encouragement, but that he has decided not to run because he does not want to be away from his family and his home.
Bense, of Panama City, just completed his second and final term as speaker of the state House and had been wooed by several top party members to get into the GOP primary.
U.S. Representative Katherine Harris is already in the race, challenging Democratic incumbent Senator Bill Nelson.

That confirms what I heard last week about Porter Goss jumping in the race from another source.
Bense won't jump in if he knows Porter is getting in.

I haven't been following this campaign closely.
Is Bense NOT running a good thing or a bad thing?

And if Goss jumps in, won't he get crucified with the impending "CIA scandal?" We're already getting a solid drumbeat of "Hookergate" on the drive-by media, and they NEVER fail to mention that the #3 guy implicated (Drotto, is that his name?) was "appointed by Goss."

Where did you hear that Porter Goss is jumping in? Also, Bense hasn't said he isn't going to jump in. From everything I've read, it looks like he may make it in.

The correct title has now been inserted.
To: SoFloFreeper
I heard this was a last-minute decision. It must be Porter Goss coming in tomorrow.

The primary result of all of this political wrangling, indecision and backstabbing is that it's now harder to tell which will be more responsible for Nelson being re-elected to the Senate -- the Florida GOP and all the dispicable doomsayers, or the relentless hammering from the leftmedia.
They don't call the GOP the "Stupid Party" for nothing.

"Even in that horrible outfit, the gal has a SMOKIN body." That's the least of her positive attributes. Unfortunately, it seems to get way too much focus here on FR.

That's the least of her positive attributes. You might not like it or agree, but thousands of years of human DNA development would prove you wrong. Human nature suggests that her SMOKIN BODY is a more powerful influence on others then anything she might otherwise do or say. As a fan of the female form, I wont apologize for acknowledging a SMOKIN BODY when I see one.

Given the cold shoulder she got from the Bush brothers when they must have already known that Bense wouldn't run, there has to be another candidate they're going to propel forward for the nomination.
Interesting to watch.

"I wont apologize for acknowledging a SMOKIN BODY when I see one." Who's asking for apologies? Don't be so defensive.
As for her beauty, well, judging from the majority of total non-lookers currently inhabiting the halls of power, it's pretty obvious that beauty is not one of the primary things that gets people elected to political office.

Sounds like Bense was just there to wake up voter for Harris...
To: Joe Brower
I wasn't being defensive. I just like typing the words "SMOKIN BODY".

Or could it be that Harris has not run the best campaign that she could be. The GOP and the media are not the only ones to blame for Harris campaign so far. Some of that blame goes to her as well.
