I just finished reading "While Europe Slept," by Bruce Bawer (highly recommended), and what is happeninng here with illegal (mostly Latino) immigration almost exactly parallels what has happened in Europe with Muslim immigration. (The only difference is that here the element of religious fanaticism is missing.) But in both cases, the political elites tolerated and even encouraged a situation that the general public strongly opposed.

What alarms me about the latest trend is that illegal immigrants are becoming arrogant, and we are beginning to see signs of a move to create a nation-within-a-nation, speaking a foreign language, showing allegiance to a foreign power, creating its own institutions, and to some extent operating outside the law, just as Muslims have done in Europe. This poses a serious threat to the future of our country.

The latest revelation - that our immigration officials have been cooperating with the Mexican government to ENCOURAGE illegal immigration and report on the movements of the Minutemen - is the last straw, and it could sound the death knell for Republican dominance of Congress and Republican hopes for the presidency in 2008.

They are extremely arrogant... Called the LAPD yesterday after telling an illegal who was going through my trash, which was curbed for pickup to move on... He laughed and then came toward me in a threatening manner and I told him that I would call the police... Policia... "I don't care" he said... I went inside and called the police... By the time the LAPD had arrived he was long gone... I saw him half hour later in the neighborhood when driving to a meeting and actually ran him out following him for about five miles...

They are arrogant and don't care about our laws... Will that attitude suddenly change if they become legal... I doubt it...

Progressive (communist) groups see illegals as the new "proletariat.' Given this view, it's easy to see that the neo-proletariat is the Left's new revolutionary army----if they can enflame the new 'soldiers' to fight, that is.
