Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Inaccurate
(05/09/2006)Statement Todays report by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols, is inaccurate. Border Patrol does not report activity by civilian, non-law enforcement groups to the Government of Mexico. During a detention of a legal or illegal immigrant that produces an allegation of improper treatment, Border Patrol reports the allegation and allows the appropriate consulate to interview the individual in custody.
This is consistent with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 that provides consular access to foreign nationals being detained by a foreign government. This is the same agreement that protects United States citizens when they travel to foreign countries.
U.S. Customs and Border Protections Border Patrol continues to appreciate the efforts of civilians who contact law enforcement authorities regarding suspicious activity.
Did they pass a law saying that was a requirement in order to ask questions about this controversy? What's your point?
BTW, when did YOU demand to know the truth? Rather, you summoned up a determination of your very own truth right between your ears. We have a controversy, with two sides saying two different things. Don't YOU want to know where the truth is?
I have a great deal of mistrust of any government statements, assuming that the odds favor some portion of all government statements being untruthful. So, I'm starting from that point, but I want to know the truth.
You apparently would prefer to make sweeping statements and let it go at that.
"...why don't YOU give Bush the benefit of the doubt?"
This isn't about Bush.
So now areas of the US are now like Baghdad and should be off limits to civilians? That's some rhetorical gymnastics you got there.
Onyx just posted to me that it was a duplicate and was pulled for that reason.
What's MY point?
You're the one making demands on us.
I hope you don't mind, but getting a lecture from you on truth is kind of creepy.
It was posted on one of the other threads .. there were a couple posters who tried to contact her
I'm glad you remembered too.
I thought typically when an article got pulled because it was a duplicate the article and comments got saved but "closed".
Anyway, I'd have liked to go to that thread and ping some of those people to this thread. A lot of them were posters I'd never heard of before so they are either infrequent posters or they only come out of the woodwork on certain threads.
Did you read Carter's original article? There's a lot of information there.
NO, not really, the coldest threads ARE the border control threads...but, not necessarily this one.
pbrown, this just in for YOU:
Too bad they pulled it. I'd surely have loved to ping people on that thread to this one.
I'm sure there's allot of that going on around here these days. I was pretty steamed when I first read about this, but no one really knows what truth there may be behind it, if any. I'm just gonna wait and see. I think everyone should do the same before saying things they will look like fools about at a later time. Having said that; I don't think the Republicans in the Senate, or The President have had the base's interest in mind over the last couple of months. They have some shaping up to do.
This thread is in Breaking News so they should easily find it.
Look, I stay off the immigration threads because I don't AGREE with the Minutemen's actions - which is my right -- and I am sure I'm not the only one who feels that way -- nor do we like being continually told we're not good American and/or 'true, real' conservatives if we don't agree with you all in lockstep.
But it busted out on the forum today and there's no ignoring the fact that it was being used, again, to bash Bush.
Hey...it isn't easy being a Bushbot...but I am, even though, I am not happy with his immigration policy. I live in Texas, and haven't been happy for a long time, though.
My complaints started long before President Bush OR 9/11..so I am not going to let this one subject tear down the respect I have for him...in going after our enemies, for the first time in maybe 50-60 years.
They were pretty infrequent posters since I didn't recognize many names, but maybe they'll hear it on the news. Do you know if Fox has reported this update?
I saw your posts today; it sure as hell didn't look like you were in "wait and see" mode today.
True, but if smart, they'll find another news item to peruse, considering.
