The absolutely the best Bear Claws are found in Bishop, California at Schat's Bakery. Stealing from an old TV commercial, "Nobody doesn't like Schat's Bakery."

They roast their own coffee. They grind their own flour from grain purchased from one wheat farm in Idaho. They roast turkey evey morning for one-of-kind turkey sandwiches.

We drive from Carson City, Nevada to Ojai, California about every six weeks to visit my 84 year old mother. The drive on HW 395 east of the Sierras is much more pleasant than traveling through the Central Valley west of the Sierras.
