Truth is often a tough reality. The party would be better off if it conceded the seat and put the dollars into a competitive race in some other venue. Truth telling is not disrespect, it's candor in a field of endeavor where it should be more prevalent. I'd make reference to the Emperor's Clothes but, in her case, that might be misinterpreted.
And no politician should be backstabbed by their own party as Catherine has been.
I hope she makes these heels eat mud.
And remember that much of the bad press she has got has come from the pro Dim media , who magnify every fault and play up every slip.
No backstabbing at all. She's had every opportunity in the world to become a good candidate and it hasn't happened. There isn't a way in the world she can get elected and yet you feel we should waste our money and political activity on a campaign that is going nowhere because we somhow owe it to her.
That's the same thinking that produced the Bob Dole presidential candidacy.
I'm underwhelmed.
If you are looking for "pretty guys" I suggest you try another web-site.
That ain't what we do here but I'm sure you will be able to find what you're looking for if you Google around.
That is not an option for Harris now. Under Florida's election laws, even though Harris filed ("declared" her candidacy for the U.S. Senate and provided campaign organizational documentation) for the U.S. Senate rate on 2/21/06, she could have chosen to switch her campaign back to the U.S. House (Florida Congressional District 13) seat which she currently holds. She would have to jumped through a few hoops to do so (like writing every contributor to her Senate campaign a letter offering to refund their contributions), but it could be done. However, since she formally "qualified" (plunked down the qualifying fee and formalized her candidacy) for the U.S. Senate race yesterday, that window of opportunity to run to retain her Congressional seat has closed. In Florida, a candidate can only qualify to run for one office, and must actually resign (effective at qualifying) any other elected position they may hold where that elected position's term of office will conflict with the term of office of the hoped-for elected office (not an issue here, as Harris' congressional term of office ends this year anyway). No fall back positions.
I'm underwhelmed
Actually, Allan Bense is a pretty attractive fellow (in my opinion), although I'll admit that I've never seen him on a horse in a skin tight shirt and jeans, showing off his "assets," nor mincing and shaking his chest on Hannity & Colmes...and I hope to goodness and basic dignity that I never do.
YMMV.
Quite right. I agree completely.
The fact that neither Bush, W or Jeb, could recruit a reasonable candidate for this race before Harris even got in is a mystery to me. So, what if Harris were to withdraw. Who do the Republicans have to put up against Nelson other than "Nobody"?
Apparently your are not a Floridian or you would know that Alan Bense is the speaker of our (strongly Republican) house.
He may not be that well-known nationally, but he's not running nationally...it's us Florida folks who will vote him in and YES, we are ready to do it, given the opportunity.
There seem to be a lot of people who view our politics from a distance and think they have it all figured out. Never make decisions based on a distant view....you could end up married to Rosie O'Donnell.
That's the same info I am hearing. What a dumb move to make but then there have been a lot of those in her campaign. When Jeb came out like he did against Harris, the handwriting should be on the wall for her. She cannot win and she will bring out Dems who might not vote otherwise -- last thing that is needed IMHO.
Would bet that the major donors are lining up behind Bense.
You make yourself and FR look bad with such foolishness.
The average FL voter has never heard of Bense. If he runs, he will lose.
Wow...I just read it back and, yeah, if a person wanted to they could take it that way. Sorry.
Let's have a contest, then.
That's where we stand. Harris has already lost this one and everybody hoped, for too long, that Jeb would go for it.
If you have some ideas as to who to recruit, let's hear them 'cause we're running out of time.
We need ideas that can move us forward, not more doom and gloom.
I agree.
