Bush is the post 911 President.

Your arguement is the political equivalent of the little boy busted by mom who says "but Billy and Bobby and Johnny did it too".

IMO the main issue is not the work seeking illegals, but the smuggling of terrorists / weapons threat.

The buck stops with Bush with this one, and he's not going to squirm out of it.

A 31% approval rating is not Governmant of, by and for the People.

"I hate to break it you, but our Southern Border was open before Bush came into office.."

And because the problem has been there for a while, it requires no attention? That's interesting "logic".

The problem is more pronounced because the government is making it more attractive for Mexicans to come here, and employers to hire the illegals. That has come to the fore under Mr. Bush's watch.

If it happens on your watch, you are responsible, no excuses. If Mr. Bush would push for closing the border, I don't think anyone would hold his feet to the fire for the past deficiencies in border security.

The crisis broke on his watch, and Bush doesn't get it yet. As the C-in-C he's responsible for fixing the problem, not making it worse.

I hate to break it you, but our Southern Border was open before Bush came into office..

And then 9/11 happened and we realized that Islamofascists wanted to come into our country and kill us by the thousands.

Yet the border remained open.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) recently made a statement that illegal aliens are responsible for the deaths of 25 Americans every day - EVERY DAY! - as well as sexual crimes against 8 American children EVERY DAY. That adds up to over 8,000 Americans killed by illegal aliens EVERY YEAR and 3,000 American children having their innocence stolen. That comes to over 40,000 dead Americans and 15,000 damaged American children since President Bush took office.

Yes, the problem existed before President Bush took office. It has only grown worse while he's been in office and, just ask any Border Patrol agent, he's made the problem worse with all of his talk of amnesty and rewards for the border intruders.

The actual statistics from DHS/ICE which prove that President Bush has actually been worse at enforcing our borders and immigration laws than even Bill Clinton. Much worse. In fact, even in Clinton's worse year he had more worksite enforcements under his administration than during the ENTIRE Bush administration.

Deportable Aliens located in non-border sectors (interior enforcement):
Clinton presidency, last four years:
1997 44,246
1998 39,096
1999 42,010
2000 32,759
Total: 158,111 Bush presidency, first four years:
2001 30,496
2002 25,501
2003 26,492
2004 21,113
Total: 103,602 Total deportable aliens located in interior sectors during the first four years of the Bush presidency represents a 34.4 percent drop compared to the previous four years - the last four years of the Clinton presidency.

Deportable Aliens Located:
Clinton Presidency first four years:
1993 1,327,261
1994 1,094,719
1995 1,394,554
1996 1,649,986
Total: 5,466,520

Clinton Presidency last four years:
1997 1,536,520
1998 1,679,439
1999 1,714,035
2000 1,814,729
Total: 6,744,723

Bush Presidency first four years:
2001 1,387,486
2002 1,062,279
2003 1,046,422
2004 1,241,089
Total: 4,737,276 Total deportable aliens located dropped by 29.7 percent in the first four years of the Bush Presidency compared to the previous four years - the last four years of the Clinton Presidency.

Not only has President Bush made the problem worse with all of his talk of amnesty and rewards enticing more and more invaders to come across to get in on the freebies before the window closes, but his administration's enforcement of the border can only be called malfeasant.
