"Silly me, I forgot that immigrants have NO negative impact on our society."
That's not what I said at all. Indeed, I pointed out that there are plenty of negative impacts from immigrants, just not infant mortality.
If you look at the chart at post 12, you will note the that blacks (non-Hispanic), Puerto Ricans (US Citizens, BTW), Hawaiians skew the results.
Mexicans (and Chinese), on the other hand, have better statistics than Non-Hispanic whites.
So much for the "third world" bogging us down.
Mexicans (and Chinese), on the other hand, have better statistics than Non-Hispanic whites.
Exactly. This is another piece of demagogery by people who can exploit it to their own ends. A legitimate comparison might be U.S. whites to European whites, but not the entire U.S. population to the entire population of some other country. The unpleasant fact is that no matter where you go in the world you will find that within that population there are differences in infant mortality by ethnic and racial group. AFAIK, the rate is consistently highest among blacks. The press dwells on this. What they never mention is that since the 40s the rate has declined as much among blacks in the U.S. as among whites with improvements in prenatal care and advances in technology. No one wants to admit that because it doesn't fit with the agenda of fanning flames.
