U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Is any major conservative media host getting this out there?

Sean Hannity (who mentioned he saw it on Drudge) and John Gibson (who had Tom Tancredo on his program) on Fox so far, that I am aware of.

Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it,...

The Governed want all "immigration" into this country to be legal!

Every elected official showing condescension to the above desire doesn't deserve his post!

You do realize, it's AMERICAN citizens on AMERICAN land who are being told their whereabouts to a corrupt MEXICAN government about MEXICAN citizens ILLEGALLY on AMERICAN soil, right?

Please all one needs is a cheap pair of binoculars where people are sitting along the border in lawnchairs.

Or are the minutemen mad that their super secret Romulan cloaking device has been exposed.

There was a thread over the weekend about an illegal alien shot and killed at the border - we don't know yet if the murderer was U.S. citizen - but there have indeed been other acts of violence by citizens against illegal aliens. And, there have been some on FR advocating said violence.

So, you've ceded the 2nd Amendment as well?

Why am I not surprised?

And how many acts of violence have illegal aliens, who don't belong here, committed against American citizens because the borders remain open?

So, you've ceded the 2nd Amendment as well?

What are you talking about, all I did was mention the fact that all one needs is a cheap pair of binoculars to find out where the minutemen are along the border.

And the motivation for tipping off a corrupt Mexican government to the whereabouts of American citizens is?

If you participate in an arrest, and you give your name to the police, it will be in the arrest report, and that is a public record.

Simple solution: make anonymous tips.

I was only pointing out that Lou Dobbs was covering the reporting minutemen story, that the media wasn't burying it.

Lawn chairs won't help you when there are known drug cartels and criminals coming through the open border. You do know that 75% of California's most wanted are illegal aliens who are from Mexico, didn't you?

Youd be alot more credible if you separated the border catches and actual deportations and stated those numbers separately.

That has nothing to do with the statement I replied to, nor with the statement I made.

After seeing all the dirty tricks the democRATs pull, anymore I have to see proof before I jump into the pool.

Could it be that there's some individuals planted in the Border Patrol( i.e. like Ray McGovern and Larry Johnson types)that are actually doing the dirty work so GWB and Co will get the blame?

Just a thought, because I find it so hard to believe that GWB would put out such an order that would risk the lives of the MM.

Tens of thousands. We are losing more innocent Americans to this invasion than 911, Iraq and Afghanistan combined...and we desperately need to be in those other place in the WOT. We also are in dire need of addressing this issue. And as a people and a nation, we are more than capable of doing both.

At this point, I really don't know what to think!

I am NOT happy about this "on the face of it."

Brit is addressing this NEXT. Right after the break.
