U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

If "exile" is too hard to grasp for you, how about this: "Since President Bush took office, agents have apprehended and sent home...

"Exile" is not too hard for anyone here to grasp; it's simply an incorrect word for what you describe. The correct word is "deported". Furthermore, for those illegals who have voluntarily returned home, the correct word is "repatriated".

The word "exile" is an emotionally-charged term which is historically laden with connotations of punishment and injustice, which I suspect is the reason you keep using it disingenuously.

For having learned one of the basics of propaganda, i.e. "he who controls the language controls the debate", I'll give you a "C minus". You're out of your league on this board, however, until you complete further study and hone your skills.

ty, Ench. I remembered reading about the SCAAP program being scrapped, as of 2007, after numerous attempts by this President. Rather than FIX the problems it has (like verification and accountability for the funds the states receive), I guess he decided to just "throw the baby out with the bathwater."

Good for you Clawrence. The next time your on a thread where someone is dogging Bush about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, give me a ping. I'll defend him on that.

As would I, as I have, every time. As I have defended his administration for not causing the recession at the beginning of his Administration. As do I, every time, on everything that is DEFENSIBLE.

Supporting open borders and AMNESTY is NOT.

"why is the border between Iraq and Syria worth securing against terrorist coming across by our military...and our border isn't?"

Post of the year IMO.

Bush cannot be "defended" on this issue. Any "defense" on this issue runs directly contrary to the Constitution, the laws of this Land, and the Presidents Oath of Office.

I just wanted to get it in there that Bush isn't ALL bad.

As I have defended his administration for not causing the recession at the beginning of his Administration. As do I, every time, on everything that is DEFENSIBLE.

I give him credit for that. I give him credit for what he deserves. But, I give him scorn when he deserves that. On this issue, he gets scorn, full tilt. The survival of our country is at stake here and I see him aiding it's demise.

I want to go on record for those who are keeping "lists" (which I thought was contrary to FR policy as stated on the home page or a link off thereof) that I think Bush's CIA pick is A-OK.
