U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.
"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.
"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."
Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.
"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.
"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

I don't care if I'm the only one left standing on FR defending the POTUS. I will not voluntarily depart ; )
To: ZULU
I will be back after lunch.
To: clawrence3
I'd hope not as I think of FR as a conservative site and not a mouthpiece for any politician or party. Likewise, I'm a conservative and if the GOP were to nominate Tom Tancredo in 2008 I'd be happy to take a leave from my job to work on his campaign.
But when we have someone in the WH who steadfastly refuses to secure our border in a time of war then who the hell needs him?

Are there any Federal Prisons in California? Maybe all the illegals should be put in Federal Prisons. Then the Federal Government would have to pay for their incarceration. Sounds fair to me!

As an extra special gift to the Americans, Bush included something else in his budget: $247 million for his "temporary" worker scheme. That is sheer arrogance... as there is no program to vote on, so why fund it ahead of time.
Has anyone told the President we already HAVE a guest worker program...?

Not necessarily. Bush has done a lot of very good conservative things. The unemployment rates, DOW, ect... are all incredibly good compared to when Bush took office.
However, when George strays off the reservation, he does so in ways that'd have anyone but a full on Bot foaming at the mouth. If it was a Democrat doing any of these things, we'd already be marching on Washington, DC with torches and pitchforks.

Good for you Clawrence. The next time your on a thread where someone is dogging Bush about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, give me a ping. I'll defend him on that.
If I could ask him a couple of questions about borders I would ask him, why is the border between Iraq and Syria are worth securing against terrorist coming across by our military...and our border isn't? Also, if this country faces no security threat, why is the WH surrounded by a fence and people carrying guns prepared to shoot to kill a potential threat, but our open borders are not?
