But the truth is, many of the same people who are frustrated with the President today were frustrated with President Reagan then.

You think?

Sound familiar?

I'm going to work for Eric Dickerson's election this fall. He is most probably a RINO, but that's FAR BETTER than the absolute lunatic we have in Julia Carson now.....

You get things in small steps, NOT by going for the whole loaf at once. WIN FIRST, then work for change from within.....

"The dirty little secret of politics is that you ALWAYS vote for the lesser of two evils. Always. If you are voting FOR someone, you will always be let down, disappointed and disillusioned. It is the nature of politics and frankly was intended to be that way by the founders of this country."

I understand you must make sacrifices. However I draw the line at voting for people who won't even advance the conservative agenda. The current leadership is moving us towards liberalism. I'd accept standing still or slightly moving to the right, but I cannot accept always moving to the left. In fact I'd rather the US went communist tomorrow, than slowly over the next 30, because I could steal an AR15 and take some commie SOBs down with me.

They're not committed in dark alleys either.

Yeah, these days evil flaunts itself out in the light.

Doesn't bode well for America...

Is that a quote from Karl Rove?

I love how the party loyal, talk about taking one for the team, and staying together, but they'd rather lose the election than give us one issue. Just one issue.

Tex may have left here for the night -- so here's his post to a similar poster who shares your opinion of President Bush as compared to President Reagan.

Lets talk about Reagan vs. Bush. The easiest way is to name those things that Reagan accomplished that Bush hasn’t.

Reagan signed the first handgun control bill in California history; Bush has signed no anti-gun laws in his political career.

Reagan signed the first Gay-rights legislation in California; Bush has never signed any gay rights legislation.

Reagan broke his promise never to raise taxes with his “revenue enhancement” programs along with the largest FICA increase in history. Bush hasn’t raised taxes in any way .

Reagan cut and run in Lebanon after the first taking of casualties. Bush has stayed the course and held to his promise not to back down.

Reagan appointed 3 liberals and one conservative to the Supreme Court. Bush hass appointed 2 Conservatives and numerous lower court Conservatives.

Reagan talked a good game on abortion but Bush pushed for and got the late term abortion ban passed.

Reagan left office and immediately endorsed the Brady Bill in his first public appearance as an ex-president.

The myth of Reagan is exactly that. A myth. He was a great president because he could say the right things at the right time to make the country feel better. It is beyond dispute that Reagan beats Bush hands down when it comes to communication BUT Bush beats Reagan in every conservative category anyone cares to offer.

I keep thinking back to the rift over Harriet Miers, and how quickly it closed, once a more obviously qualified candidate was nominated. Did it shake some people up, because the Miers nomination seemed to lend credence to certain doubts? I think it did, but there would have been no lasting consequence.

I think something similar can still happen with this illegal alien situation. We're getting high-profile ICE action now, token though it may well be. So, there's still hope.

I agree, amazing that in the leftwing loony bin otherwise known as the state of Maryland, we have the Man of Steele.

Amen. Michael Steele won't be in Maryland long but it will be worth it. He is the first black president.

One issue? Like abortion, SCOTUS, tax cuts, economy, WOT....but of course, that's not the one issue you meant.

Yep...the new pro-Bush argument is that "Reagan kinda sucked". It's amazing the talking points that you guys come up with. The only thing Reagan was good at was communicating? Good stuff guys.

No one said that Reagan kinda sucked and that was not the point. But don't let the facts get in the way of your temper tantrum.
