CONSERVATIVES don't win elections...
MAJORITIES do..
Whether you like it or not, the key to victory is NOT pandering to the conservatives, it's persuading the MIDDLE that you are more sane than the whackos on the left......
In that "Middle" are millions and millions of Hispanics, legal and illegal, who COULD be COnservative Voters, if we'd only let them.....
Instead, we holler, scream and berate each other, while Dems and Unions sign up illegal voters by the hundreds of thousands.
Now which way do you think that middle vote is going to swing???

I've lurked for seven plus years before succumbing to addiction...and this is the worst I can remember.
I remember someone once telling me that cornered animals are the most ferocious right before they die. And that battles are the ugliest right before total surrender.
Those words of advice have been front and center for me these past few months.

This is no longer, and hasn't been for some time a representative government.I bet you they don't even count the votes anymore. Right?

In any case, you are absolutely right that it is a serious issue...but also a complex one. I used to think I knew exactly what we should do, but the more I study the issue, the more I realize that it is incredibly difficult to tackle and that there are no easy answers. Human beings tend to do what they want to do, despite everything. We are a fairly tenacious bunch. That makes things like this much harder to solve.Well said, pollyannaish. It is a complex issue, and most commonsense folks understand that there is no quick fix.

You are exactly right. My guess is that 1/3 of these "Conservatives" are Seminar posters. I agree - but I am beginning to suspicion that there are, among them, "sleepers" who have been waiting to plant lib-aide
I'd rather believe that then to think there are so many FR-conservatives whose thinking processes are this block-headed.

"I will gladly vote for any conservative Republican candidate that respects the sanctity of life, the 2nd Amendment, and the security and sovereignty of our borders."
I'd only change one thing about what you said.
I will gladly vote for any Conservative candidate of ANY Party that respects the sanctity of life, the 2nd Amendment and the security and sovereignty of our borders.
D, R, I or C by their names makes no difference to me. I won't vote for a liberal of any stripe or from any party.

About one twelfth is a considerable portion of the population of NC not even being US citizens. If Amnesty is declared that could double, I would wager increase 200,000 though. Well good luck in North Carolina, you may very well need it. Let us both hope the border is sealed with expediency.

It's not the worst (as in nastiest) it just seems that way because we have been infiltrated by so many trolls from DU and shills from the DNC.

Now, realize that the conservative vote has been taken for granted for too long with conservatives feeling more and more betrayed. Ahem.
We ARE conservatives; just not your "type."

"Your inability to accept responsibility for your own (bad) behavior, and then your whining that it's 'not fair' speak volumes about you, Reg."
Again, back it up or back down. You are very prone to get in a huff with anyone who disagrees with you, and very rapidly begin slinging the word "liar" around. There's nothing cute in pointing that out, and there's nothing persuasive about doing it.
And, as far as the "sonny" nonsense, I believe you announced your intent to retire about 100 replies ago. By your own standard, what does this say about your honesty?
To: Howlin
Back during the last PMS cycle the "true-conservatives" went through I did exactly that. In the last election the Birchers would tip-toe in and post a few New American screeds and I took part of that link and replaced Bush with Reagan and they ate it up like cotton candy. When I came clean those threads died and they slithered away. This linkage between the Constitution Party and the John Birch Society needs to be hammered home around here.

The population is above 8 million now, so it's bad, but not quite that bad.

Howard Dean is the best thing that has happened to the repubs.
Unfortuneatly, we on the right have our own Howard Deans.
They are the ones who think "let's vote for howard dean then after that Tancredo will be president."
I'm hoping there are more lunatics on the left than we have and that is why we will win.
