Yesterday, the Boston Globe, that staunch guardian of the news and all things liberal, ran on Page 1 its in-depth analysis of why Patrick Kennedy should not be held responsible for his career of drug abuse, violence, and incompetence.

Kudos to the Globe for bolstering the case for McKinney as Democrat plantation poster girl.

Patrick Kennedy and Cynthia McKinney

Cynthia McKinney’s reaction to the obvious and blatant favoritism enjoyed by Patrick Kennedy is likely to be something to savor.

She is already on the record about the indignities she received at the hand of a white cop.

But now she sees that for the white boy, supervisors stepped in, relieving the officers at the scene and driving the staggering Kennedy home.

She faces potential legal jeopardy, and now a rich white boy walks away without so much as a breathalyzer test from circumstances that would ordinarily demand a drunk driving investigation.

Kennedy vs. McKinney

The cases are not equivalent, though McKinney's interest is to conflate them. Note:

(1) McKinney was not recognized as a member of Congress (she doesn't exactly look the part AND she was not wearing her ID) while Kennedy was recognized.

(2) McKinney [allegedly] assaulted an officer while Kennedy did not.

I don't think Kennedy should have been spared the Breathalyzer test and am not condoning his behavior, but I don't see McKinney's cause for complaint, and I certainly don't see any racial angle.
