The Republican Party is uneasy as it shambles toward the crucial 2006 congressional elections. Many of its supporters claim to feel demoralized, if not seduced and abandoned, by the conservative president they thought they elected in 2004. With President Bush's Nixonian economic policies and unwillingness to curtail federal spending, and the Republican faithful as confused as everyone else about the Iraq War, this is a good time to gain some political perspective from two veteran architects of the Reagan Revolution.
In the midst of another difficult political predicament, Germany's Iron Chancellor, Otto von Bismarck, once said he had finally found two experts who clearly understood the problem. Unfortunately, they disagreed with one another on the solution. So do Bruce Bartlett and Kevin Phillips. But with the GOP political-direction-finder whirling like a compass needle in a magnetic storm, perhaps they can at least help illustrate its different aspects.

El NAPO will win by 25 points?!? You have GOT to be kidding?!!
You're nuts.
Isn't that the truth.
Thank you; I'll stop wasting my time posting to this fraud.
Tone?
You were the one who called me a leftist rat troll just because I was giving a honest observating on races.
Maybe you should not call someone a rat just because they are trying to have honest discourse. You need to chill out calling me a troll because I am having an honest discussion on house races. I don't deserve that.
Forgive me if my typing is lousy.
How DARE you call me a troll :) ???
The latest polls have her approval rating in the mid 60's and she is winning by 35 points against her opponents.
She plays the clinton triangulation game well.
She talks a good game and then does the complete opposite with her actions.
She calls a border emergency but won't send troops to the border areas. She then vetoes any strong anti illegal immigration bill.
And you don't think the Republican candidates won't be smart enough to point out her hypocrisy on these issues? I believe AZ will wake up and throw Butch out of office.
I can't imagine him losing... or Kyl, either. I hate the ad Pederson has been running against Kyl, but I haven't seen any against JD, guess it's because he's not in our district.
Yup, and aside from that one Newsday article all I'm finding is a lot of buzz on the Lefty blogs, which doesn't mean squat of it's own accord. Most of the time nowadays they just all march to the same drumbeat anyhow; that of their twin Apostles of Clueless: Jerome Armstrong and Markos Zuniga.
I agree with that. One less barrel of oil traveling through the Straits of Hormuz can only be a good thing.
Pedersen's ads don't even identify him as a Democrat. That says how much people in our state will go for the RATs.
I think you are overstating your case a bit, and I say that as one who does not wear rose colored glasses when it comes to GOP House prospects in 2006. Bush carried the Hyde district by 6%, and the GOP has an excellent candidate, and there is some bad blood from the Dem primary. If the Dems carry the 6th in Illinois, the House will very probably go Dem. They will win gain about 20 seats or so. Characterizing the 6th lean GOP at present, is a more dispassionate call. But in a month, or two, or three, maybe you will be deemed a sear. Time will tell.
The dems will impeach bush and cheney.
I won't vote for another liberal, no matter what party they claim to belong to. And, if they impeach both, Bush and Cheney, which has never been done before (impeaching and removing, both, the President and Vice President), then Dennis Hastert becomes president (which is just as bad anymore); so, who cares? I am so tired of voting blindly for Republicans. They are the same as Demonrats. Read their websites, they sound the same.
Well they are entertaining. One can get some news out of them, if one is willing to wade through all of the cheer leading testosterone.
Your district would flip Dem in a heartbeat, if your capable and popular RINO, Mr. Kirk, ever chose to bag it.
Are you saying that if your congresscritter or senator is a Republican, you will vote for the Democrat?
"""On what grounds?"""
Impeachment would probably center on one or more of the items listed here:

It won't be done, but if Pelosi is Speaker, she will be third in line, not Hastert.
""I am so tired of voting blindly for Republicans. They are the same as Demonrats. Read their websites, they sound the same.""
just tell yourself that over and over as the ATF is politicized and comes looking for you.
