He'd been being fought from within since he took the position, since he was announced.

I am truly worried about how partisan against Bush the CIA has become. It is a huge problem for America. And once again, the MSM isn't following that story, even though it is spelled out for them in sources such as The Weekly Standard.

Time will tell about Goss.
True.

But the announcement was not something that was in the works, it was rather sudden.
The MSM hadn't got an inkling, but we don't know if it was or wasn't decided long before. No leaks! And boy does that make the MSM, the Democrats and "former" CIA officials mad.

The backstory will come out. I am just curious why you totally dismiss the very real possible connection?
Because my dear Watson the story has (as yet?) hardly any legs to stand on at all. The origin of this story is a leftist website (http://www.wonkette.com/) and then it was picked up by the Daily News (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1627861/posts). None of the stories have had any sources except the infamous L Johnson, and former CIA officials.

How these former officials know anything about what is going on at the CIA is an interesting question in itself. However, "former officials" may well have been sacked by Porter Goss - hardly reliable sources in that case.

Anyone who has followed the leaks from the CIA during the last 4-5 years recognize the pattern...

I don't make judgements in advance of facts.

Speculation is a total waste of time.

Considering the media's track record of reporting the truth, why would anyone bother to consider their reporting.

He'd been being fought from within since he took the position, since he was announced.

Bush knew that would happen. He also knew Goss was the right man to start the cleanup.
Now that the trash has been identified and actions to remove the trash are underway,
it's time to appoint an actual Intel person (Gen. Hayden,) to drive the mission.

And once again, the MSM isn't following that story

The MSM isn't interested in following, they want to lead the attack on the evil Bush, Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etal.

This one is going to get bad. Real bad.

And your reason for thinking that it is going to get real bad?

Heard anything else in the grape-wine? Your left foot aches? Had a bad dream?

The fact is that even if what is claimed in the press (in some of the press) is true, Porter Goss has been relieved of his duty as DI and someone who appears to be a very good man is on his way in. I don't see any dark clouds here.

So since Goss put him in office Goss is guilty?

Or do you have some evidence to support this?

I wonder if these disgruntled "patriots" noticed that the last several books written for leftists have been tanking lately.

They aren't written to sell copies. They are written to give Katie Couric and her ilk something to quote.

So Goss resigned because he put the guy in office? And the guy is involved in the scandal?

I'm just trying to see what your point is about Goss and Hookergate.

Is it your presupposed fact he took responsibility for one of his underlings and resigned?

It looks like there has been some well needed house-cleaning on this thread.

Thank you.

"Larry Johnson is the f-ing intelligence genius who wrote a New York Times editorial 2 monthw prior to 911 that terrorism is not a threat to the US. Real smart."

Well, I guess that says it all then, lol. Thanks for pointing out that little factoid. Perhaps you (or someone) should inform this "newspaper" about the quality of their "sources". I'm sure they wouldn't care, but it would amusing.

Thanks for the tie with the lying spinning a$$hole Larry Johnson. The Times should be ashamed of printing this garbage.

Why is this smear important? Seems like it takes away from the chaos and knee jerk conservative reaction piece which has been far more devastating to the Republicans of late. Instead it converts this move to a smart maneuver for the president to close a hole that had previously been hidden.

I was in a big company once where they hired a new dept head, he came in and cut jobs and then left after 6 months! At the time I was only 21 but then the rumor was he was only hired for 1 thing - handing out the pink slips! If this was what Goss was hired for, hopefully he handed out ENOUGH of them because the CIA sure is full of democrat operatives and scum...
