US President George W. Bush has said the September 11 revolt of passengers against their hijackers on board Flight 93 had struck the first blow of "World War III".
In an interview with the financial news network CNBC, Mr Bush said he had yet to see the recently released film of the uprising, a dramatic portrayal of events on the United Airlines plane before it crashed in a Pennsylvania field.
But he said he agreed with the description of David Beamer, whose son Todd died in the crash, who in a Wall Street Journal commentary last month called it "our first successful counter-attack in our homeland in this new global war, World War III".
Mr Bush said: "I believe that. I believe that it was the first counter-attack to World War III.
"It was, it was unbelievably heroic of those folks on the airplane to recognize the danger and save lives," he said.
Flight 93 crashed on the morning of September 11, 2001, killing the 33 passengers, seven crew members and four hijackers, after passengers stormed the cockpit and battled the hijackers for control of the aircraft.
The president has repeatedly praised the heroism of the passengers in fighting back and so launching the first blow of what he usually calls the "war on terror".
In 2002, then-White House spokesman Ari Fleischer explicitly declined to call the hunt for Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda group and its followers "World War III".

Actually WWIII was the Cold War. We won that.
This other one has been going on since...well, when? Since the birth of Israel? Since the fall of the Ottoman Empire? Since Mohammed launched the first Holy War against the Infidel?

3,4, whatever it takes. What surprises me is that someone in the media thought this was newsworthy. If GWB had said it was WWII, that might be newsworthy if you're suffering from BDS.

"It's about time. We should have been calling it that on the morning of 12 September 2001." A few people did.
The inspired knew it instantly. The truly enlightened knew it 10 to 20 years prior.

During the French Indo-China War when France was the controlling Colonial Power of what later would become Vietnam they were battling the Viet-Minh under Ho-Chi Minh. The Commanding General was General Nuygen Giap. They managed to trap the French Foreign Legion in a valley bowl at a place called Dien Phen Bu. The Viet Minh manually hauled artillery up to the bowl lip to rain death and destruction on the hapless Legionaries. The French government pleaded with the only nation capable of doing the massive resupply drop to the Legionaries to stage a breakout. One Sen from Texas, later to become President and hung with the albatross of the Vietnam War round his neck (LBJ), filibustered the senate authorization until it was too late and the Commander of the Legionaries surrendered. Like our MIAs from Vietnam all the Legionaries still have not been accounted for.
Dien Phen Bu was France's greatest hour of shame and defeat on the field of battle for surrendering.

...the War to Contain Islam as well...
A war wherein 'containment' is the objective is not worth fighting.
Containment is merely a stalemate or cease-fire -- a pause in hostilities until the side that intends to impose dictatorship considers itself ready to try again. Islam certainly is not trying to 'contain' us. We should understand that and act accordingly. If it is a Holy War they want, then let them have it.
Nothing less than the future of Western civilization hangs in the balance.

That 'lady' is disgusting.
She was saved as a child by Serbs then she kills Serbs as they are protecting themselves from Islamic fanatics.

All the heroic passengers did was change the crash site from the Capitol to a pasture. ALL?

I remember the battle now. I didn't know it was Johnson that ruined our relationship with France. I guess the Dems have always been stabing us in the back.
Thanks

Hi SteveMcKing-"...The inspired knew it instantly. The truly enlightened knew it 10 to 20 years prior..."
You're 100% correct. I remember being a little kid nearly three decades ago and my sweet and kind grandmother warning me about the "Mohammadans" in her very broken english. She was charming, kindhearted, and the entire neighborhood loved her...and she told me to NEVER trust a Muslim for even a moment. That cute little grandmother of mine was onto something back then...

Vietnam was a "battle" in the Cold War. So was Korea. So was the Berlin Airlift. So was tracking Soviet subs sortieing out of the Kola Peninsula into the North Atlantic (think we never lost any S-2s or S-3s doing that?). Etc.
There were plenty of Cold War casualties.

You read my mind, he should've announced it loud and clear on Sept. 12th, 2001.

"Great rhetoric from the president. Let's hope he comes to the realization that our pourous borders and our south of the border neighbor are an achilles heal in fighting WW III."
At least Bush is refusing to send US aid to the PLO terrorists.
