Old Joe could never gain acceptance with "the Cabots and the Lodges." No matter how much money he made.

So he closed ranks, encouraged his children to see anyone outside the family as the enemy, and perceived that politics could get his family the power and respect he so deeply craved. His hubris and ambitions cost him dearly.
