I'm all for a guest-worker program. I have no problem with folks that want to come to America for a better life. I have no problem with guests that want to eventually stay in America and become citizens. God bless!

Apparently, I should have examined the details, because I presumed a guest-worker was someone coming in through legal channels for seasonal work - not sneaking across the border and dropping anchor babies in the first emergency room. I don't think any of us foresaw a time when illegals would be marching in the streets making demands on our country, when they don't even have the courtesy to wait to be invited in.

The hot-button issues of the campaign were restoring our military, controlling spending, cutting taxes, making government agencies more responsive and accountable for results, to name a few. I don't recall a whole lot of time being spent on giving amnesty to illegal aliens, although I did try to follow the campaign closely.

Let's be honest, the choices between President Bush and those slugs the Democrats attempted to foist on the public was an easy one...President Bush all the way, even if it meant crawling over broken glass to get to the voting booth! But that shouldn't mean we have to unqualifyingly support everything he proposes; and this issue is very important to a lot of people whose families and communities have been negatively impacted by it.

Voting for the better candidate? Always a wise decision. Supporting the subversion of the rule of law and allowing the compromise of our national security? Seems to me we were on the warpath when President Clinton tried that; heck, we even impeached him over it!!!

I don't want President Bush to ever be in the same category as the former TRIPOTUS; he deserves better than that, and we deserve better than "amnesty by any other name."

In this case, we can agree to disagree.
