Dear Txsleuth:

I've been around since 1997, although computer viruses and new ISPs have resulted in a new "born on " date.

This is not the "complaint du jour." It's always been there, in the background, with rumbling on both sides.

I think the reason folks like myself are angry at the Administration is simple: it took years to make this a front and center issue - we finally have momentum on our side, a majority in all 3 levels of the Executive branch, and they are STILL playing paddy-cake.

Pro-lifers have been taking it on the chin for a long time, on an issue that they hold very dear. They've been fighting hard on the ground level to elect people who represent their side on the issue. Can you imagine how they would feel if they thought they were this close...polls showing numbers in their favor daily, legislators giving lip service to restoring stripped rights to the unborn (or at least seriously limiting the amount of children slaughtered annually) because of public outcry? Then, just when it seemed something would finally happen - the White House comes out with a "compromise plan" and the Senate folds under pressure from the media?

For many years, we have been telling single issue voters to be patient, patient, patient. Your day will come, your issue will come, your time for change is just around the corner. I was part of the group telling them to hang in there for the sake of the party, because once WE are in charge, things would get BETTER.

Well, we are in charge. Instead of moving ahead on the issue of illegal immigration, the administration is offering a slap on the wrist to lawbreakers who are sapping our schools and hospitals, pumping our streets with drugs, ruining our neighborhoods, suppressing wages, and trying to "reclaim" land they have NO RIGHT TO, while WE GET STUCK WITH THE BILL.

I used to shake my head at single issue voters. Now, I have become one. Amnesty = Treason.

The sovereignty of the U.S. has never been a single issue. Only those who put party over country believe that our borders do not matter.

The problem here seems to be that you and others that thought "this was the time" obviously didn't pay much attention to the President's campaign speeches...

He always espoused a "guest worker program"...and the way our government is set up....unfortunately in some cases, COMPROMISE is the name of the game...
