That and the guilt of having a father who killed women(Mary Jo Kopechne), an uncle whose is famous for the bay of pigs fiasco, and a grandfather who was in "bed with Hitler" and as ambassador to the UK told Churchill that Chaimberlain was right, you must appease Hitler(of course, he was in bed with Hitler all along).
If I came from a family like that I would probably kill myself... which come to think of it is exactly what Patrick Kennedy is doing. People seem to think the family is cursed... I think that some of them have a conscious and deep down... just can't live with themselves so their "accidents" are really subconscious suicides.
You left out so many juicy stories. There was also
- the girl who is paralized for life after the jeep overturned
- the young naval officer who was caught with the married German spy at a hotel in Charleston
- the married guy who was having affairs with both the 14 year old babysitter AND her mother
- the girl who got raped on the beach while uncle was walking around in his undershorts
- the grandfather who forced a labotomy on his daughter all the while he was having affairs with scores of Hollywood starlets
- the inexperienced pilot who killed himself and the two sisters
- the cousin who forced an annulment on his first wife (and children) to marry the girl he had been having an affair with for years.
- The kid in the tree who murdered the girl in Greenwich
The list goes on and on and on.
