So must I celebrate this Mexican holiday? Should it be a national holiday?
This is only a recent phenomenon do to pandering by retailers.

See post 49, technically, this is a holiday that historically, effects all of the Americas. It is not Mexican Independence Day.

DOH !!!. You don't have to celebrate anything. You also don't have a right to tell anybody they can't or WalMart they can't sell merchandise their customers want or Griff's that they can't have a big to do on St. Patrick's day.
It's appears some people just need to bitch about others to try and make their life meaningful.
Low self-esteem?

No one is forcing you to celebrate Cinco de Mayo any more than any one is forcing you to celebrate Christmas. If you dont want any of the goods related to Cinco de Mayo, dont buy any. Seems fair and simple to me. And if you are offended by Mexican music one day a year, then shut your mouth when others complain about being bombarded with Christmas music. What a hypocrite.
