I spent my time on the left. They hate conservatives so much that the demands for punitive action against Bush and the Cabinet will extend to us if they win.

Conservatism alone is enough to mobilize the left against any candidate. RINOs can and do pull votes from moderate Democrats. In some districts, any Republican can win. In most districts, no conservative can.

If you are referring to the numbers in the Toomey v Specter race being the same as you cite above, you are wrong.

Out of a million votes cast, Specter won by a swing of 6,000 votes. The week before the primary election, both Santorum and Senor Bush came to PA to tell Republicans that Bush and the GOP really NEEDED Arlen Specter because he was always 'with us' when we needed him.

It was total BS, but enough people bought it to cost Toomey the victory.
