This painkiller thing was really late to the party; one of Howie Carr's callers noted a verbal parallel of one phrase in Patches' speech to one of dad's after Chappaquiddick. Maybe he spent the afternoon putting together a pastiche of lines that "worked" and used Rush's too?

Any idiot would know not to take ambien while driving. That stuff is pretty strong and will knock you out in just a few minutes.
I think he was drunk and used this excuse to cover his "problem."

Isn't Phenergan an anti-nausea med? What would make Patches - hic - nauseous? Daddy the Swimmer surely wouldn't need that stuff.

We need the whole "dope" on the identity of the painkillers.
And, as someone earlier in the thread asked, from whom is this lawmaker obtaining illegal amounts of prescription painkillers?
Phrased another way, just who is the "DR. FEELGOOD" (JFK's drug supplier) for this lawmaker?
Also, and I'm sure someone must have asked this...
If the "Honorable" Rep. Kennedy doesn't remember the events surrounding the collision -- THEN -- how can he remember NOT asking for special treatment from the arresting officers?

A even more interesting question...is that usually there are unknown women in the cars of these idiot senators or congressmen who get pulled over at 1AM. The cops don't mention this in police reports...and I'd be curious to know if there were.
