Aston Martin DBS Unveiled
5th May 2006
Aston Martin have officially unveiled the new DBS model which James Bond will be driving in the forthcoming film "Casino Royale".
Design Director, Marek Reichman, said: This car encapsulates a link between our elegant DB9 road car and the powerful DBR9 race car. It signals an evolutionary development of Aston Martins world renowned style and elegance. While hinting at our future design direction, the DBS also has very clear links with our heritage it is instantly recognisable as an Aston Martin.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez added: The DBS continues our proud and lengthy association with James Bond. The DBS is not of the understated elegance of a DB9, nor the youthful agility of the V8 Vantage. It is explosive power in a black tie and has its own unique character which will equal that of James Bond.
Produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (Eon Productions) and directed by Martin Campbell, CASINO ROYALE is scheduled for release November 17, 2006. Principal photography started on January 30th 2006, with locations in the UK, Czech Republic (Prague), Italy, and the Bahamas. It will be British actor Daniel Craigs first outing as James Bond. He is the sixth actor to play the 007 role in the franchise.
Way cool!!
Well, as long as Lucas had nothing to do with the electrics, it might be worth looking at.
The brits sure know how to build a car, but the best Bond car ever, is the AMC Hornet, from The Man with the Golden Gun.
Beautiful! BTW, is this the one he could not drive?
What's the MSRP?
Oh man we have A Triumph TR6. Lucas: The Prince of Darkness.
No clue. It was just unveiled so there was no information given on how much it goes for. However, I'm pretty sure this is one of those things where the phrase "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" applies, unfortunately.
I think the DB9 goes for 165K.
LOL! "Oh, Lucas....Prince of Darkness....We beg of thee for thine light."
I bought my last house for that. Still, one day....sigh.
I have always loved Aston Martins.
That said, this particular model variant, IMHO, is lacking the classic understatement typical of Aston Martins, and crossing over into the more common "boy racer" styling.
That lower front facia and hood looks more appropriate for a "rice-mobile" than an Aston Martin.
Still a beautiful car, like the rest of the line, but I wish they'd have toned the mods on this one down a bit.
Dang, beat me by 22 seconds!
LOL. My hubby has an MGB GT, absolutely pristine looking, prettiest shade of blue you ever saw. Now if only he could get the darn battery working...
Daniel Craig will complain the car is too powerful for his metrosexual ways.
Yeah, for instance, he can't drive a stick shift. What a pussy. His exact words?: "I don't do stick." Putz.
since james bond can't drive a stick, I'll have to do it for him, I guess...
