You don't have to buy into the "end times" prophecy racket in order to be worried about the federal government ID'ing you. I know, we already have Soc Security cards - but that's just the point: Why does "Uncle" Sam have to be any more intrusive and controlling than that?
By the way, the federal government could have stopped 9-11 with the information it had in hand; no National ID was needed. A couple of the 9-11 family members, on PBS last night, pointed out that line FBI agents had identified the hijackers as suspicious - but their concerns were ignored by higher-up bureaucrats.

There isn't much you can do without your social security number these days.

We don't enforce the undocumented laws now, how would a new ID change that?

This is also why I'm against the Patriot Act. I don't care how secure this makes us as a nation. I'd rather have my liberty. Sure, Americans might die, but freedom is A.)inherently risky, and B.) not free. The same with this "National ID" crapola. Always beware the government that claims a repressive move is "for your own protection." Well, I have all the protection I need from Gustav Glock.

I'll buy the "mark of the beast" theory when they actually start branding folks, or doing implants. Maybe I've been watching too many X-Files reruns .....

Well, if you believe the Bible then it's gonna happen anyway so there ain't nothing we can do about it.

How did they get to name it the "Patriot Act," anyway (patriots like Thomas Jefferson would be appalled at the power it gives federal officials). Can any congressman arbitrarily give a name to his bill? If Barney Frant introduced a bill for a 100 percent tax increase, could he give it the official name, the "Motherhood Act"?

Endtime Ministries' Irvin Baxter, a radio host, believes the national ID is a precursor to the forced embedding of radio-frequency chips under the skin. Have you heard about the Arkansas church's techno-tithing program?

I don't know if I totally agree with this or not. I listen to Irvin Baxter regularly, and much of what he says is very thought provoking.
The Bible says that man will not be able to buy, sell, etc. without a mark. After 2008, we will not be able to open a bank account, buy a house or car, etc. without showing our national ID.
I love how the Government slipped this in onto the coattails of a Bill that it knew nobody would vote against.

That's the contention of a growing group of believers who are working to turn back the approval of the Real ID Act by Congress last yearThese whack jobs are going to get us all killed.

The ACLU are Communists who want to destroy America. It's like they pick the most irritating possible position on every issue and support it. And to think many years ago I respected them! What hacks.

start branding folks, or doing implants
On Thursday, Mr Specter - who held talks with Mr Uribe in April - read out a report in the US Congress in which he alleged:
"President Uribe said he would consider having Colombian workers have microchips implanted into their bodies before they are permitted to enter the United States to work on a seasonal basis."

Of course you're talking about the federal government and the activist supreme court.
