In a truly FREE society anyone could commit suicide anytime without being thrown in jail or labeled a psych case. I believe it to be a human right. It's your life, it's your body, just help them out so they can do it on the cheap.
If you think you have a right to control suicide then you believe you have a right to control another's life decisions. Once you start doing that there is no stop to one group of people controlling another. That is why trying to stop abortions is wrong. It's not your family, it's not your genes. The Roman Empire had enough smarts to stay out of family matters.

The Roman Empire had enough smarts to stay out of family matters. In one brief paragraph you've managed to sum up perhaps the single ugliest, twisted, hideous, tearfully sad component of a society that was once great but is now spiraling down into self-destruction.
Got a question for you: What HAPPENED to the Roman Empire? Answer: The moral fabric decayed and it all fell apart, exactly like it ALWAYS does, absolutely without fail. How ironic that you'd choose the Roman Empire as your societal flagship. You made my point for me, though I'm certain you didn't intend to.

I don't agree with you, but you are talking about apples and oranges.
In the matter of abortion, you are killing another person.
In the matter of suicide, you are killing yourself.
ps. Look at where the Roman Empire is now.

My personal position is that if we believe that there is a right to life, then we must accept that people have a right to dispose of that life whenever they wantThis is a subtle but unmistakable non-sequitor (it's also howling nonsense). Both the right to life and the obligation to live are endowed by the Creator. Your lamentations for a FREE society are, IMHO, a dangerous illusion that if actually brought to pass would be calamitous. There is no freedom without the law (however the law can be corrupted to artificially curtail freedom).
