When are Republican politicians going to wake up and quit playing footsie with obstructionist Democrats? Come November, how will Republicans credibly be able to make the case that they deserve to be reelected to majority status when they have unilaterally surrendered their current majority position?
Based on their repeated behavior, these Beltway politicians couldn't possibly comprehend the degree of angst, disgust and frustration swelling in the conservative base of the Republican Party.
The tepid, feckless reaction of Republicans to the Senate Democrats' latest assault on President Bush's judicial nominations is a perfect illustration of their recurring abdication. More and more they think like Democrats, act like Democrats and get in bed with Democrats. And why? Democrats do not come to them bearing gifts.
Like the unmitigated minority bullies they are, Democrats are threatening to filibuster White House aide Brett Kavanaugh, President Bush's nominee for the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and Judge Terrence Boyle, his nominee for the 4th Circuit.

If Repubs want to win this fall then picking a fight with the democrats on a conservative issue would do them wonders.
Worth repeating:
Based on their repeated behavior, these Beltway politicians couldn't possibly comprehend the degree of angst, disgust and frustration swelling in the conservative base of the Republican Party.
Picking a fight means they have backbones.....which is taking a giant leap of faith. I didn't think Jellyfish had any.
Limbaugh has it right. With a few exceptions the lack of leadership with a backbone across all party levels is appalling, sad, and disheartening.
Now THIS article I totally agree with. If people want to vent at the "right" this is where their anger should be directed. The Republican leadership in Congress has been absolutely worthless since they became the majority.
"If Repubs want to win this fall then picking a fight with the democrats on a conservative issue would do them wonders."
CASE FOR TERM LIMITS IN A NUTSHELL.
They've been in Washington so long, they care more for that liberal cities back-stroking than for what conservative voters want. That's the only explanation... they go for baed policy and bad politics and dont even see it.
Maybe I'll start a conservative party: The Backbone Conservative Party. Motto: "A promise given is a promise kept."
As usual, David Limbaugh puts his finger right on the main issues.
They won't because they're gutless wonders.
Almost the ONLY bright notes in Bush's second term were the confirmations of Roberts and Alito. Bush has done nothing else of any value that I have noticed. Yes, his UN appointment was a good one, but it has turned out to be all talk and no action.
Even the war on terror has essentially been put on the back burner. We are following through in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we are screwing up in Kosovo and Palestine and Syria and apparently Iran. Not to mention the Saudis, who are at the root of the whole business and are still getting away with it.
BZZZZZZTTTTT! Wrong answer, David.
They comprehend it just fine. They just don't give a sh!t about the base.
They think they can manipulate us into voting for them again by telling us that if we don't, the queers are gonna boofoo us, after stealing our guns and burning our flags.
Which basically means that they think that we are idiots.
All the idiots need to do is to look how their base came out on the dropping of Meier and lifting up Alito.
Tell Specter and McPain to shut up and bring on the fight for Kavanaugh.
They'd get some of the base back.
Both are dismayed by President Bush's attitude toward illegal immigration. They can't believe it. They can't understand it. It makes no sense to them. I told them my theories about why President Bush might be taking the approach he seems to be taking, but they didn't want to hear it, which is unusual for them. I was taken aback, but I understand.
Then tonight I was walking through my kid's school with my daughter, and I noticed one of the work carts used by the custodial staff. Hanging on the side of the cart was a bucket, and stuck to the bucket was a big "Bush/Cheney" sticker. Imagine, the janitorial staff includes a Bush supporter, I thought. Then, I couldn't help thinking, I wonder how that janitor feels about Bush's stance on illegal immigration."
Mr. Bush. Please, please explain yourself. Your supporters are confused and disheartened. Can't you help us understand your reasoning?
(steely)
And we lost one of our best fighters when we lost DeLay. The dems knew what they were doing. They cut out our toughest fighter, The Hammer.
As useless as they are they are better than democrats running rampant. thats the only thing they have going for them, because God knows they have been useless. Some of them have been worse than useless and seem to be working for the other side.
Huh? What are you talking about?
Principles or power? Elected Republicans seem genetically incapable of having more than one of those at any given time.
Sadly, it sure seems that way.
