How long before American civilians are taken hostage and executed in an attempt to get him freed?That is why the Israelis NEVER negotiate with hostage takers. Set that precedent and you encourage kidnapping.
Fellow Americans, if we can't rescue you you are already dead; so do whatever you can to take a few with you.

Israelis NEVER negotiate with hostage takers. So what was that massive release of several hundred prisoners a few years ago, for the remains of three dead Israelis?
Oh, that was a "good will" gesture.
Don't get me started on the Elchanan Tannenbaum fiasco.
