Monday was my day without migrants. It was amazing. I came home from work, and the yard wasn't mowed, the bushes weren't trimmed - laundry hadn't been done, the house hadn't been cleaned.

I was very upset that none of those things had been done while I was away - then it dawned on me that I was the one who had to take care of it all anyways.

If we could just extend it to *365 Days Without Criminal, Illegal Aliens*, I'd be a very happy camper.

I never missed 'em. Let them stay away.

Please go home now and come back when you get your papers squared away.

"...a group of Mazahua Indian women entered a McDonald's on Monday with homemade food,..."

Mmmmm, I'd bet that was some good eats: fried dog, roasted salamander, boiled scorpions, braised beetles, BBQ donkey, and side salads with ecoli-coliform bacteria dressing. Yummy.

pro-boycott protesters in the border city of Tijuana blocked traffic on a bridge leading into the United States

Maybe there is one job they will do that Americans won't. Well ok, not Americans, just most of congress

We briefly fostered a little 7 year old girl before sending her home to Mexico (long story) and after being in the US for two years she was worried that there wouldn't be any Walmart for her to go to. She had a whole list of brand names which we had to confirm were available in Mexico. Fortunately we found a Walmart within 20 miles of her home. I think that made it a lot easier for her to make the trip home.

A one day boycott is meaningless. So you don't buy milk and bread for one day, you're going to buy it the next day anyhow.

The only boycotts that really work are long term ones at a specific target.

The illegals said they would bring our economy to it's knees. This is a position no Conservative Republican would ever support.

Americans believe that capitalism builds the economy and the American worker is the force that runs the engine.

Since the 1900's Americans have been blessed because of companies employing them, that is how we all are able to save, buy, and support OUR families, work is a 4 letter word that we are priviliged as Americans to have the opportunity to do.

Wages have steadily increased as price of products has increased referred to as the cost of living increases.
Yet there are some on the illegals threads who will argue that illegals are good for the economy because they accept LOW WAGES, SLAVE WAGES.

That is as an un-American debate as could be argued.
Why for so many decades have corporations raised their prices and ultimately raised wages to accomadate cost of living is it suddenly okay to DROP wages for the illegals while keeping the prices of goods and services as high and still raising them? How can they honestly justify that?

We as Conservative republicans have always supported Capitalism, Entrepreuners are the real reason capitalism exists, there can be no capitalism without the worker.
One supports the other, and fair wages and wage increases have been the norm than suddenly a group of greedy pro illegals are arguing and attempting to support justifying employing and paying below standard wages to the illegals.
I would bet they are even IMPORTING the illegals illegally.

They do not care about the average American worker anymore, why? Because they have outsmarted themselves, gee we can outsource jobs and pay the workers less, than suddenly they realized with all the tariffs and shoddy work that occured because of outsourcing they decide we better take the jobs back to America were now the worker is accustomed to the wages they had been earning BUT that wasn't how the corp's see it, after a taste of cheap labor, we better IMPORT CHEAP LABOR and bring it TOO America where we can keep an eye on it. SELFISH?You bet, the employer doesnt care what it costs the taxpayer he doesnt care the social costs in OVERCROWDING the U.S. he doesnt care whether taxpayers are stuck holding the bag and subsidizing the employers employees, So a new breed of capitalism has suddenly raised it's ugly head.

The old capitalism as we once knew it was the American way and what this country was built on that is why we supported it, some mavericks have decided it just wasn't working for them anymore.

Enter low wage slaves again. Shame!!

We have 2 Mexican restaurants in my small town of less than 10,000. They chose to close on Monday. I think they are paying for their choice because I noticed hardly any cars out in the parking lots yesterday. Pissing off middle America is not exactly a smart move.

Funny, in my corner of the woods, there was virtually NO discernible impact whatsoever. However, you would not know that given the huge media coverage which gave the illusion that the country might grind to a halt at any moment.

The Day without Gringos will be Cinco de Mayo, when I won't be eating at the local Mexican restaurant (which was closed Monday), nor ordering any margueritas. In fact, there will be quite a number of Days without this Gringo, for that restaurant.

Consider cheap tomatoes

This email is from a retired former teacher friend whose wife is a teacher in the Riverside area, and has been for many, many years. The attached is first hand knowledge...

As you all listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration there are some things that you should be aware of. My wife is in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at large southern California high school, which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socio-economic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc. where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

My wife tells me that 100% of the students in her school and other Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast, free lunch program. When I say free breakfast I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll... but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten.

She estimates that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight.

About 75% or more DO have cell phones.

The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for baby-sitters or having family watch their kids.

She was ordered to spend $700,000 on her department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; her budget was already substantial. She ended up buying new computers for their computer learning center; half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America.

She has had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them Putas? whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To my conservative friends: I hope you're really proud of how George W. Bush has helped to sell-out this country with his pro-illegal policy. I voted for him too, but on this issue he is a disaster.

To my bleeding-heart liberal friends who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, Medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc., etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will leave and return voluntarily?

There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way. It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate ... and an American culture that has become so weak and politically correct that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS! WAKE UP PRESIDENT BUSH, YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!

Rubin said the boycott unwisely targeted some of immigrants' best allies — U.S. corporations that have actively lobbied Congress for immigration reform...

They bit the hand that feeds them.
