My mother is a Reverend. For a time, she preached at a drive in theater, from the back of an old box truck. Sometimes in the rain . . .

I have to ask, "Isn't there a better use for a hundred million dollars?"

Them there mega-churches get ya lot closer to Yeshua I guess...just have to decide if He's in the coffee shop, the on site dry cleaners, the devotional video store or the Nearer My God to Thee Gift, Stationary and Religious Icon Emporium. But I guess He's hidin' in there somewhere...maybe over in the video-production and satellite relay feed department.

And yes...I am being very sarcastic.

Rather self serving, isn't it. I just hope its not so comfortable that they go to sleep.

Luke 12
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

Matthew 25
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

$103 million could easily build 10,000 churches in those third world countries that still have to meet in houses. This is ridiculous.

I'm not here to judge another servant of God. That said, my old church in Seattle region pulled a similar stunt. People taking out second mortgages, selling their house or standing up and saying that their children would go to the community college rather than the University of Washington.

Yes, they built a new and wonderful church. But I and several hundred others, no longer attend there.

I attended this church when the services were held in a converted warehouse. The church started out of the back of a station wagon and the original services were held in storage units. It's amazing to see what it is now, considering where they came from. Ft Lauderdale is a major metropolitan city in South Florida. They have converted many a soul to Jesus Christ. There missionary work is world wide as well.

Just to keep it in perspective, Ft. Lauderdale is the Yacht Capital of the world. There are hundreds of yachts with values exceeding 30 million per.

God bless them and those they help.
