He's been on the immigrant issue for years, hammering the theme: "Borders, Language, Culture". Not that critics will ever concede that he was right, now that the issue is front and center.
Nothing good or true can ever be expected from "compassionate conservatives" (ie. liberals), not even plain hindsight.
