Taxpayer Supported ANSWER Hates America - And Organized May Day Boycotts
Sweetness & Light ^ | May 2, 2006 | N/A

Meet the people behind so many of the weekly Hate America rallies, including the recent illegal aliens rallies and the May Day boycott:

May 1 Boycott & LA Marches for Immigrant Rights
No Work! No School! Take To the Streets!

On May 1, stand up for immigrant rights. Join immigrants and supporters to make May 1 a national “day without an immigrant.” We will settle for nothing less than full amnesty and legalization for the millions of undocumented workers presently in the United States. Let’s show the government, corporations and politicians that a powerful, united peoples’ movement has the power to win Civil Rights, workers’ rights and make history. No Work! No School! No Business as usual!

The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition, along with other pro-immigrant organizations, has been working hard to build May 1 and the overall immigrant right struggle. We've passed out over 150,000 flyers for May 1, gathered thousands of petition signatures demanding amnesty for all immigrants and held public street meetings all over Los Angeles to promote the movement. Join the struggle for full equality and justice today!

Demand Full Rights for Immigrants!
¡Exijo Derechos Plenos para los Inmigrantes!

Sign the Peoples Petition / Firme la Petición Popular

Legalization Now! ¡Legalización Ahora!

English: I demand full rights and equality for all immigrants living in the United States. Neoliberal economic policies targeting Latin America, like NAFTA and CAFTA, have pushed millions of people into abject poverty. Immigrants are forced to come to the U.S. to look for work. Nobody should be criminalized for attempting to survive. No human being is illegal. Racism against immigrants emanates from the same forces behind the U.S. war to conquer and control the wealth of Iraq.

Report on Anti-Minutemen Protest in Burbank

The People Drive Out the Racists! No Human Being is Illegal!

On Saturday, April 22, more than 100 pro-immigrant protestors, including dozens of A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition organizers and volunteers, squared off against the racist, anti-immigrant groups "Save Our State" and the "Minuteman Project." The progressives outnumbered the neo-fascists more than 2 to 1. "SOS" and the Minutemen were in Burbank in front of a Home Depot store to protest against a day laborer center and undocumented workers. As they shouted racist slogans, the multinational crowd of progressives chanted in English and Spanish in unison: "Racists go home!" and "Minutemen are racist, you are the terrorists!" Progressive signs and banners read "Amnistía! Full rights for all immigrants," "The workers struggle has no borders" and more, while the Minutemen carried hateful signs dubbing immigrants as "illegal" and depicting the pro-slavery Confederate flag.

During the action, the pro-immigrant protestors took over the street in front of Home Depot in a show of militant force. This was followed by a march around the area. The "SOS" and Minutemen fled in defeat a short time later while the pro-immigrant protestors took over the street corner that the racists had been occupying.

The people declared a victory over the racist forces in Burbank. Protestors and the day laborers at the site left with a positive feeling of unity and shared struggle against the right-wing criminals who seek to stop the immigrant struggle for full equality. The people united will never be defeated! El pueblo unido jamás será vencido! The anti-Minutemen protest was featured prominently on local television and print media outlets. Elsewhere ANSWER gives more reasons for their support of amnesty for illegal aliens:

Of course, as with the anti-war protests, ANSWER's signs were everywhere at all of these "spontaneous" rallies:

March 25 LA 3  March 25 LA aerial5

Some background on ANSWER, courtesy of Wikipedia:

ANSWER was established by the International Action Center (IAC), which was in turn founded by former United States attorney general Ramsey Clark and the Workers World Party.

The IAC and the WWP are of course both Communist organisations.

Discover The Networks has much more on their background and activities. But synopsizes them thusly:

International A.N.S.W.E.R. (often, simply ANSWER) is a front group for the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party (WWP), which uses the anti-war movement as the vehicle by which it promotes Communist ideals and condemns American society, American foreign policy, and capitalism.

Please bear in mind that ANSWER is a taxpayer supported 501c3 "charity":

But laws never seem to apply to those who hate America and who want to destroy our system of government.

This is from the large broadside in the article that some people might be able to read:

Corporations and politicians want to brutalize the people who work the hardest to keep society functioning - immigrant workers. Immigrants contribute billions to the U.S. economy and many, especially the undocumented, receive no benefits in return. Yet, who cultivates, harvests, and packages the food we eat? Who sews the clothes that fill shopping centers? Who cleans the hotel rooms and offices of every U.S. city and town? Immigrants actively participate and work in all areas of life.

Why then, would the government want to attack those who contribute so much to the economy? They want to repress immigrants so their corporate allies get more profits. Repressive laws and terror campaigns allow them to exploit immigrants even more, driving down wages and working conditions for all workers.

That's why racist politicians and media hacks are scapegoating immigrants for everything wrong in society. But immigrants aren't the real cause of unemployment or crime - it's the rotten system that puts profit over people. How to fight back: Build a united people's movement A.N.S.W.E.R. says to Congress and all the anti-immigrant racists that "No Human Being is Illegal!"

Racism against immigrants emanates from the same forces behind the criminal war to conquer and control the wealth of Iraq. There is a force strong enough to defeat the racist warmongers - the united people's movement. That is what changes history. That is what won the eight hour day, Social Security and the Civil Rights Act. A.N.S.W.E.R. is working to build a movement that can transform society, disarm the Pentagon and win back all that has been stolen from us - from Los Angeles to Baghdad, Mexico City to Manila, Port au Prince to Gaza and everywhere. Join us in the struggle for amnesty and against war, racism and bigotry!

Disarm the Pentagon? That sounds like a military action, or a threat to our military. Something has to give soon. Time for a round-up or something.

Clearly, the commies want to try to co-opt this movement. I spotted a large socialist party banner in the Denver parade. As we know, the May 1 date was no coincidence.

That said, I think they will fail. No way the average Hispanic will become a member of a commie party over this issue. They may not become Republicans, but not communists, either.

ANSWER doesn't care much about anything else besides destroying our system of government.

They will use anyone anything any "cause" to that end.

This one is my favorite!

Speaking of signs........

One of the greatest signs was the one a guy took to the Masters tournament a couple of years ago. Feminista, Martha Burke, was protesting the Masters and Augusta because they have no female members.

So, some enterprising fellow came to her silly protest with a sign.

****

Martha Burke was an opportunist who saw a chance to get her 15 minutes of fame by attacking Augusta National because of its male only membership policy (even though about half of the member organizations of her National Council of Women's Organizations also have gender specific membership policies). The New York Times made her a pet cause and put her crusade on the front page on numerous occasions (even though traditional newspaper decorum called for advocacy issues to be the providence of the opinion pages).

In this case - the New York Times tried to make the news instead of cover the news but they failed miserably. Howell Raines abused his position at the New York Times by trying to make Martha Burke and her crusade something it was not. Even the New York Times couldn't ignore the fact that only a handful of protesters ended up answering Martha Burke's call to protest. The protest is now recalled only for its utter failure and for Heywood Jablome's protest sign that read "Iron My Shirt" on one side and "Make My Dinner" on the other.

****

LOL
