Yes, many of the Mexican neighbors of Austin and his pioneers were friendly and at ease because Austin intended to assimilate into Mexico, he was not there to revolt or collaborate with a foreign power. He found good land that would support a good living in agriculture and husbandry. His intent was to build a business. He was successful and the Texicans, through hard work, built wealth in the form of ranches, farms and supply businesses. The Texicans now had something worth stealing, but they had the protection of Mexican law (at this point the "wrong answer" buzzer sounds). The reason that Mexicans were mostly poor is because the ruling class were as they are now, mostly thieves, and the Texicans would get less protection than even the peons. Some Mexicans recognized what the Texicans had done and reasoned that it was unwise to kill the producers, something socialists never learn, and the rest is the history of which you speak.

Everyone should be reminded that under the treaty of Guadalupe_Hidalgo, no former Mexicans were expelled or disenfranchised. They simply retained titles to their lands and brecame U.S. citizens. Their subsequent offspring are still here and are natural born citizens.

None of these "reconquista" types ever had ancestors in Texas, California or the Southwest.

Absolutely true but most of the protesters have no idea what would happen. Any Mexican illegal with half a brain should ask him or herself why they are in the States in the first place and not in Mexico. Why do we have the jobs and they don't? It's not as if Mexico doesn't have the natural resources or an excellent climate.

Within a few years of the establishment of the new country (whatever it would be called), the Marxist leaders would destroy the economy and once again millions of Mexicans (or whatever) would be crossing the border into America. Obviously millions of those protesters are too stupid to understand that basic fact.

This righteous indignation on the part of the Mexicans is bogus, especially when you consider that "Mexico" was conquered by Spain, which got THEIR territory through war, etc.

As far as I can tell, the only covenant whereby anyone was deeded land is Israel, which was given that land by God.
