I don't know about 'liquor-laced' cigars, or those that smell that way. I go strctly by taste and aroma, but the aroma part has never smelled like bourbon to me.

Of my two favorites, one (Ashton) is a milder cigar with a natural (medium) wrap. The Excaliber I like is a mid-full strength cigar (in dark or maduro) wrap. The Excaliber sometimes tastes (as some other maduros) close to chocolate to me, but I don't ever recall one that tasted like whiskey. Not to say they aren't out there.

Again it's in the taste of the beholder. Next time you smell one of those cigars that pleases you, ask the smoker what it is, and compliment him on his choice.

I only know what my ignorant nose tells me when it comes to cigars. I don't even smoke cigarettes. I know what I like and it's good enough for me.

Your suggestion to compliment a smoker on a good cigar is one I'll follow up.
