It's $3.04 across the street from me. However, I get to save a whole $.05 if I buy it on Tuesday (sounds like a Wimpy commerical, huh? LOL)

Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Examiners Association

Commercial fishing is one of our nation’s most hazardous industries.
The Coast Guard is committed to increasing safety in the fishing industry.
The main objective is to increase compliance
with the minimum safety requirements found in
Title 46 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 28—
Requirements for Commercial Fishing Industry Vessels.

"...Between 1999 and 2003, for the US, a total of 528 uninspected commercial fishing vessel
were lost and 291 fishermen died.

“These figures clearly demonstrate that the death rate for the uninspected commercial fishing vessel industry is unacceptable in comparison to other segments of the maritime industry and the American workforce in general,” the analysis stated.

Furthermore, data compiled from voluntary dockside examinations “show conclusively” that increased survival rates of both fishermen and vessels are directly proportional to the proper equipping and maintenance of safety gear on vessels, “particularly when the crew has been properly trained to use these systems effectively in emergency response scenarios.”

Yet the Coast Guard estimates that only six percent of the approximately 90,000 uninspected commercial fishing vessels in the US today have had the voluntary dockside examination..."

Got this note from Ev this morning:

Hi mom, how's it going. I wish i could be writing under happier circumstances, but alas, i broke my laptop. Pretty much the worst thing that could possibly happen over here. It's a king hell bummer. I made two key mistakes: waking up early, and deciding to make my bed. These errors led to a horrible clattering of metal and plastic which turned out to be my computer, my favorite toy ever. ALRIGHT, i've got that off my chest. here's where you come in: You remember before i left back in november i told you that the original box, containing (i hope) the warranty, is in my room. probably somewhere in the far right corner as you're walking in, maybe in the closet. it should not be in another box. The box is pretty distinct looking, it is cow spotted black & white. now that i think about it, it may be in my file cabinet.. or under the bed..

Ok, that's your first job. I've already dropped the computer in the mail for you. once it arrives, it sure would be swell if you would bring it in to best buy to get exchanged. I'm not REALLY sure if the warranty applies in the case of a dropping.. but i believe it does. And if they try to say it doesn't apply because i was out of the country, that's a load of crap, because i specifically asked before i bought it. OK, if they say no go because it was broken, not defective, then forget about it. I'll order up another one from here......... In any case, it is absoulutely critical that i get a new computer, and ASAP. I've got nothing else to do here! i even snapped a guitar string last night :-(

OK, thanks alot, this is all very much appreciated- talk to you later-

Anyone have any experience with this? I haven't started looking for the warranty yet; I think I know where it is. I can't imagine they wouldn't honor it under the circumstances.
