This is impossible. Everybody knows Bush brought us the worst economy since Herbert Hoover.

Wouldn't S&P500 be more reliable as a general indicator? And in it it's not even close.

IMHO, the Dow, consisting of just 30 companies, is "your Father's index."

The S&P 500 is a much more reliable indicator. But even with 500 companies it still doesn't reflect the "real market."

To me, indices like the Russell 2000 are more indicative of what the market is really doing.

Despite soaring oil prices, the Dow, watched as a barometer of the economy and Main Street, has regained more than 4,000 points that slipped away after the dotcom bust and the 2001 recession.

Pathetic. It's as if 9/11 didn't even happen. No-o-o-o, that didn't have any adverse impact on the economy. Not a bit!

Dispite the monumental failures of the Republican Congress and the fury of its base support (Middle America) over them, there are overriding reasons to vote for and re-elect Republicans to Congress this November, to wit:
The economy is booming!

9/11 was never repeated--thanks to President G. W. Bush!

Republicans are lax on Illegal Immigration and Open Borders. Democrats actively encourage both because they expect them to enlarge the Democrat base support!

No one in his right mind would entrust National Security--or anything else of importance--to the likes of Nancy Pelosi!

Oh yeah, and
Republicans--NOT Democrats--must have the authority to appoint judges.

That's nothing.

Jimmy Carter was able to push the Dow right down to 700 or so. So there.

;-)

What caused the 50+ Dow drop in the last 20 minutes?

When the DEMS take back congress in 06 and then the White House in 08 and the DOW falls to 8500, I hope the only folks effected are those fools who spend their time bashing BUSH for everything.

Without much fanfare, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is closing in on its all-time high

Yeah, without much fanfare because the press doesn't report it.
