Oh Say Can You See . America is Becoming Mexico (American–you don’t have the right to be offended)
Opinion Editorials ^ | May 01, 2006 | Kaye Grogan

If you are a born American–you don’t have the right to be offended. Now if you are from another country, especially if you are in America illegally, then you can be offended by the traditions and core values in America. All you have to do to get sympathy from our government and watchdog groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)-- is just complain because Americans haven’t yet accepted the fact, they are supposed to be a country of diversity and it’s totally out-of-the-question to strive for unity. And if you haven’t found out by now, how you can really cause a stink–did you know you can use your children to be offended when the American “Pledge of Allegiance” is recited by American children in American schools–especially if “under God” is said in the recitation?

There are several things that have to occur before we can become a one-world nation: first we have to be brought down to ground-level (make that ground-zero) submissiveness. We have to relinquish our guns; we have to get “in God we trust” off of our currency; we have to forget about equal rights unless we are in America waving flags from another country–demanding amnesty for breaking laws, and waving signs for Americans to get off of their continent. And before too much longer, we should be getting Pesos and the Euro in place of American money. Next, they will be singing the new “Nuestro Himno” in place of our National Anthem at the opening session of congress. And I’ll bet you donuts to a dollar–children will be singing the Spanish version in public schools before long.

While Mexicans are on a roll–somebody needs to implement a Spanish Pledge, and then the United States of America can be renamed Mexico. How’s that for progress?

Posted on a thread that was later locked, I figure this is a good place to remind Americans of the distinction the 5th column MMM is trying to hide!

As a English-American I enjoy hearing and seeing Irish flags and songs (Unicorn)on St. Patrick's Day. Also all the Italian flags on Columbus day, and the German, French, Swedish, etc. flags on their days. What have you got against the the showing by Mexican Americans of the Mexican flag?

St. Patrick's and Columbus Day are celebrations of culture and not an attempted (albeit feeble) assault on our economy and a demanding of rights for criminals.

Good answer, saves me responding.

Yours says it all and more.

My father emmigrated through ellis Island, legally in 1951 with his x-rays to show he never had TB. Six months later he was drafted (Korean War), he completed the requirements for citizenship in 1957, four years after he fought in Korea.

"...Irish flags... on St. Patrick's Day... Italian flags on Columbus day, and the German, French, Swedish, etc. What have you got against the the showing by Mexican Americans of the Mexican flag?"

If you think about it you would realize the difference. The examples you cite are flags displayed at cultural events as show of heritage. The Mexican flags held by at political demonstrations demanding the right of Mexicans to defy American laws is a show of allegiance.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN:

"Let us say to the immigrant not that we hope he will learn English, but that he has got to learn it. Let the immigrant who does not learn it go back. He has got to consider the interest of the United States or he should not stay here. He must be made to see that his opportunities in this country depend upon his knowing English and observing American standards. The employer cannot be permitted to regard him only as an industrial asset."

"We must in every way possible encourage the immigrant to rise, help him up, give him a chance to help himself. If we try to carry him he may well prove not well worth carrying. We must in turn insist upon his showing the same standard of fealty to this country and to join with us in raising the level of our common American citizenship."

- February 1916

"I appeal to all our citizens, no matter from what land their forefathers came, to keep this ever in mind, and to shun with scorn and contempt the sinister intriguers and mischiefmakers who would seek to divide them along lines of creed, or birthplace or of national origin..."

"The effort to keep our citizenship divided against itself, by the use of the hyphen and along the lines of national origin is certain to a breed of spirit of bitterness and prejudice and dislike between great bodies of our citizens. If some citizens band together as German-Americans or Irish-Americans, then after a while others are certain to band together as English-Americans or Scandinavian-Americans, and every such banding together, every attempt to make for political purposes a German-American alliance or a Scandinavian-American alliance, means down at the bottom an effort against the interest of straight-out American citizenship, an effort to bring into our nation the bitter Old World rivalries and jealousies and hatreds."

- May 1916

"We must have in this country but one flag, and for the speech of the people but one language, the English language. During the present war all newspapers published in German, or in the speech of any of our foes, should be required to publish, side by side with the foreign text, columns in English containing the exact translation of everything said in the foreign language. Ultimately this should be done with all newspapers published in foreign languages in this country."

- July 1917

"This is a nation — not a polyglot boarding house. There is not room in the country for any 50-50 American, nor can there be but one loyalty — to the Stars and Stripes."

- May 1918

"There are plenty of persons who have already made the assertion that they believe the American people have a short memory and that they intend to revive all the foreign associations which more directly interfere with the complete Americanization of our people. Our principle in this matter should be absolutely simple."

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birthplace or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. "

"If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn't doing his part as an American."

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, and American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding house; and we have room for but one soul [sic] loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people."

- January 1919

You cannot site one example of an American court citing a Mexican immigrant as an illegal. I, on the other hand, have case after case of just the opposite. Example: A New Mexico rancher lost his ranch to an immigrant because he abused that person. This was done in an American court room. Canada, UsofA, and Mexico, since NAFTA/CAFTA have "common" citizenship. This has been accomplished under Democrat and Republican Presidents.

Common citizenship my bleeping #$%#@!

"You cannot site one example of an American court citing a Mexican immigrant as an illegal"

The Immigration Laws - that courts & politicians choose not to enforce - make all who MIGRATE WITHOUT IMMIGRANT VISAS ILLEGAL MIGRANTS...and not IMMIGRANTS.

Mexican laws still decide who lives in Mexico... why can't American laws decide who lives in the U.S.

They threw bottles of human PISS on US soccer players, and they chanted, "Osama!".

I hope they do the same this time. I hope they burn the US flag, I hope they lay down in front of traffic, and I hope they kill some well-known Americans.

And I hope it gets on TV, Rush, and Drudge. And lamestream US TV.

Mexican help is the most expensive "cheap" help we'll ever get.

Well apart from sating the obvious, they shouldnt share the rights of citizens, because they certainly dont share the responsibilites of citizens.

Tomorrow, if a draft was instituted, Id like to see how many of them would want to be legalised.
